"We get them up, moving, and out the door. How do we get them to do what is recommended?" Using behaviour change theory to put exercise evidence into action for rehabilitation professionals.
Recommendations suggest a multicomponent exercise for people with osteoporosis. We identified rehabilitation professionals' barriers and facilitators to implementing exercise recommendations with people with osteoporosis, and used those to make suggestions for targeted knowledge translation interventions. Future work will report on development and evaluation of the interventions informed by our study.

We measured serum vitamin D in 8024 Romanian subjects and found a marked seasonal variation with highest levels in September and lowest levels in March. The seasonal variation (early autumn vs. early spring) persisted in all age and sex groups. The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency was very high.

Observational StudyPreventing future fractures: effectiveness of an orthogeriatric fracture liaison service compared to an outpatient fracture liaison service and the standard management in patients with hip fracture.
An observational study was carried out in two hospitals in patients > 65 years admitted for hip fracture. At 6 months, 15% of patients in the hospital with orthogeriatric standard care and 75% in the hospital with fracture liaison service were receiving bisphosphonates.

Lower preoperative Hounsfield unit values are associated with intra-operative fractures in cementless bipolar hemiarthroplasty.
The use of Hounsfield units (HU) from CT scanning to assess regional BMD has been described. Therefore, we evaluated whether HU could be used to identify osteoporosis of the proximal part of the femur. The results showed that HU assessment is associated with the presence of intra-operative fracture during arthroplasty.

Compliance to The Joint Commission proposed Core Measure set on osteoporosis-associated fracture: review of different secondary fracture prevention programs in an open medical system from 2010 to 2015.
There are care gaps in the evaluation and treatment of osteoporosis after a fragility fracture. The Joint Commission is considering adoption of core measures. We compared compliance between two secondary fracture prevention programs in our institution. Incorporating strengths of both may provide the best outcomes for secondary fracture prevention.
