Meta Analysis
Robotic arm-assisted vs conventional unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: A meta-analysis of the effects on clinical outcomes.
Robotic arm-assisted unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) has been recommended for treatment of unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis. However, its effectiveness and safeness remain controversial compared with conventional UKA. Therefore, the goal of this study was to perform a meta-analysis to re-evaluate the effects of robotic arm-assisted UKA on clinical functional outcomes. ⋯ This meta-analysis demonstrates robotic-assisted UKA may be an effective and safe surgical procedure for treatment of unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis.

Meta Analysis
Manganese levels and hepatocellular carcinoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis based on Asian cohort.
Several studies have investigated the relationship between Manganese (Mn) levels and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but the results were inconsistent. Thus, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the association between Mn levels and HCC. Nine studies focusing on hair Mn levels, 6 studies on serum Mn levels and 6 studies on tissue Mn levels were identified in a systematic search of PubMed, CNKI, Wanfang and SinoMed databases. ⋯ In tissue, the Mn levels in tumors were significantly lower than in adjacent normal tissues (SMD (95% CI): -4.867 (-7.143, -2.592)). Subgroup analysis showed consistent results. In conclusion, this meta-analysis suggested an inverse association between Mn levels and HCC.

Genetic polymorphisms and pancreatic cancer risk: A PRISMA-compliant systematic review and meta-analysis.
Previous investigations yielded inconsistent results for the associations between pancreatic cancer (PC) risk and genetic polymorphisms. The study aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies exploring association of some genetic polymorphisms and PC risk. ⋯ Because of the limited sample size and ethnicity enrolled in the present meta-analysis, further larger scaled studies should be performed to demonstrate the association.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Efficacy and safety of oral SOCG in treatment of major depressive disorder: A protocol for a phase II, randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled, parallel-groups, dose finding exploratory study.
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a common condition worldwide, and leads to degradation in quality of life and large socioeconomic costs. There has been increasing demand for new therapies with fewer side effects. SOCG (SOCG tablet) is a modified prescription of So-ochim-tang, which is widely used in Traditional Korean Medicine to treat MDD. We aim to evaluate the efficacy of SOCG in treating MDD, and identify the optimum dose. ⋯ Demonstration of human safety and efficacy of SOCG in the present trial and identification of the appropriate dose will justify a New Drug Application and a phase III clinical trial. Further, we expect that this new antidepressant will be able to increase cure rates, and alleviate the burden of medical expenses.

Multicenter Study Observational Study
"A contemporary description of staphylococcus aureus prosthetic valve endocarditis. Differences according to the time elapsed from surgery".
Staphylococcus aureus prosthetic valve endocarditis (SAPVE) has a poor prognosis. There are no large series that accurately describe this entity. This is a retrospective observational study on a prospective cohort from 3 Spanish reference hospitals for cardiac surgery, including 78 definitive episodes of left SAPVE between 1996 and 2016. ⋯ Mortality was high. There were differences in some clinical characteristics and in evolution according to the time elapsed from valve replacement. Prognosis was better in early SAPVE.
