Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is 1 of the common clinical diseases, and many treatment methods can only improve the symptoms of pain in the short term. Traditional Chinese sports - Baduanjin has been proven to have a positive effect on chronic low back pain. However, the quality of the research is low, the sample size is small, and safety observations are lacking. We describe the protocol of a randomized controlled trial to study the efficacy and safety of Baduanjin chronic low back pain. ⋯ This will be the first study to compare the effectiveness and safety of Baduanjin for patients with chronic low back pain. The results may help healthcare professionals make clinical decisions and may reduce the cost of treatment for this disease.

Diabetes mellitus risk after hysterectomy: A population-based retrospective cohort study.
We explored whether hysterectomy with or without bilateral oophorectomy was associated with the increasing incidence of diabetes mellitus (DM) in an East Asian population. This was a retrospective population-based cohort study that analyzed DM risk in Taiwanese women, using a health insurance research database of 1998 to 2013 containing nearly 1 million people. We identified 7088 women aged 30 to 49 years who had undergone hysterectomy with or without oophorectomy. ⋯ Our study provides essential and novel evidence for the association between hysterectomy and DM risk in women aged 30 to 49 years, which is relevant to these women and their physicians. Physicians should be aware of the increased DM risk associated with hysterectomy and take this into consideration when evaluating a patient for a hysterectomy. The current results might help gynecologists prevent DM and encourage diagnostic and preventive interventions in appropriate patients.

Screening the key genes of prognostic value in the microenvironment for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is the sixth common malignancy worldwide. The tumor microenvironment is highly related to tumor initiation, progression, and prognosis. This study aims to screen the tumor microenvironment related key genes of prognostic value for HNSCC. ⋯ Protein-protein interaction analysis revealed that POSTN and OGN were crucial microenvironments related genes. Tumor microenvironment related genes ADGRG7, CSN3, CST8, KRT81, MUC7, MYH6, and SEZ6 are valuable predictors for HNSCC patient survival. POSTN and OGN are crucial in modulating the microenvironment and tumor biology for HNSCC.

Clinical investigation of nosocomial infections in adult patients after cardiac surgery.
Nosocomial infections (NI) are common complications after cardiac surgery. To date, there have been few manuscripts investigating NI in the intensive care unit after cardiac surgery. Our study was designed to investigate the characteristics of the distribution of pathogenic bacteria, antibiotic resistance and risk factors for NI. ⋯ Six out of thirty variables were identified as independent risk factors for the development of NI, namely, duration of surgery, low cardiac output syndrome, continuous veno-venous hemofiltration, mechanical ventilation time, reintubation and tracheostomy. We analyzed the characteristics of the distribution of pathogens, antibiotic resistance and risk factors for NI in our center and provided some suggestions for clinical practice. In addition to antibiotic treatment, avoidance of risk factors and aggressive infection control measures may be crucial to stop or prevent outbreaks.

Efficacy of opioid receptor modulators in patients with irritable bowel syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
While irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common functional gastrointestinal diseases in clinical practice, it has diverse pathogenesis. Because of its sudden and lingering intractable symptoms, it seriously affects patients work and life. Opioid receptors are G protein-coupled receptors distributed across the brain, spinal cord, skin, and gastrointestinal tract, and each of the subtypes has a unique role and specific distribution. They play a role in regulating gastrointestinal motility, secretion, and visceral sensations in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, this meta-analysis aims to evaluate the effects of opioid receptor modulators on improving the symptoms of IBS. ⋯ This is the first meta-analysis to examine the use of opioid receptor modulators in IBS, and few adverse events were reported in the available trials. Compared with the control group, eluxadolin has a better effect in improving IBS global symptoms and abdominal pain and has statistical significance and showed a low rate of constipation development in IBS patients in comparison with known effects of other opioid receptor modulators. However, current findings are based on a considerably limited evidence base with marked heterogeneity. Future studies should aim to identify subpopulations of patients with IBS and need to evaluate the long-term safety of these therapies.PROSPERO registration number: CRD42020141597.
