Establishing preventive measures and treatment strategies for adolescents with low back pain (LBP) may be greatly enhanced by fully grasping the complex interaction between LBP and lifestyle behaviors. The key objective of this study was to explore the possible associations between lifestyle behaviors and LBP among adolescents in Saudi Arabia. A cross-sectional study was conducted among high school students from 5 major regions in Saudi Arabia. ⋯ Promoting physical activity, reducing sedentary behavior, and improving sleep quality may be crucial in preventing and managing LBP in this population. Comprehensive strategies targeting lifestyle behaviors should be implemented to improve the well-being of adolescents and reduce the burden of LBP. Further research is needed to better understand the underlying mechanisms and develop effective preventive and treatment strategies for LBP among adolescents.

High serum ferritin (SF) levels have been linked to obesity, metabolic syndrome, atherosclerosis, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and cancer. This study aimed to investigate the association between SF and dyslipidemia in adults diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. This cross-sectional study retrospectively analyzed the electronic medical records of eligible patients from 3 primary locations in Saudi Arabia namely - Abha, Khamis Mushyt, and Jeddah - from 2010 to 2020. ⋯ SF had a significant positive correlation with cholesterol (r = 0.081, P < .001), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (r = .087, P < .001), and triglycerides (r = 0.068, P < .001) and negative correlation with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (r = -0.13, P < .001). Multivariate analysis revealed that age, sex, residence, and HbA1c were significantly affecting the lipid profile. Clinicians should consider including SF testing as part of the comprehensive evaluation of patients with diabetes and dyslipidemia.

Situs inversus totalis is a rare malposition of organs that typically involves lesions in the respiratory, circulatory, or urinary systems. Cases of congenital hemivertebrae combined with situs inversus totalis are extremely rare and have limited reports. ⋯ For patient with spinal deformities combined with situs inversus totalis, surgery can be an effective treatment method. But we also need to be vigilant about the dysfunction of various systems.

Simple hepatic cysts (SHC) are generally asymptomatic and incidentally diagnosed using imaging studies. Asymptomatic SHC does not require treatment, but symptomatic SHC warrants treatment using different modalities, including intravenous antibiotic therapy, ultrasound-guided percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) with sclerotherapy, and surgery. The dissemination of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) intervention techniques has enabled the performance of puncture and drainage via the transgastrointestinal route for intra-abdominal abscesses. ⋯ The median reduction rates of the major cyst diameters in the EUS-guided drainage and PCD with sclerotherapy groups were 100% (interquartile range [IQR]: 94%-100%) and 67% (IQR: 48.5%-85%). The length of hospital stay was 7 and 22.5 days in the EUS-guided and PCD with sclerotherapy groups (P = .01). EUS-guided drainage of symptomatic SHC is a safe and effective therapeutic alternative to percutaneous drainage with sclerotherapy and surgery for treating symptomatic SHC.

In this retrospective study conducted at Sichuan Jinxin Xinan Women and Children's Hospital spanning January 2015 to December 2021, our objective was to investigate the impact of embryo cryopreservation duration on outcomes in frozen embryo transfer. Participants, totaling 47,006 cycles, were classified into 3 groups based on cryopreservation duration: ≤1 year (Group 1), 1 to 6 years (Group 2), and ≥6 years (Group 3). Employing various statistical analyses, including 1-way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis test, chi-square test, and a generalized estimating equation model, we rigorously adjusted for confounding factors. ⋯ No statistically significant differences were observed in birth weight or sex between groups. However, male infant birth rates were consistently higher than those of female infants across all groups. In conclusion, favorable pregnancy outcomes align with embryo cryopreservation durations within 1 year, while freezing for more than 1 year may diminish clinical pregnancy and LBRs, concurrently elevating the risk of ectopic pregnancy and preterm birth.
