The aim of the present study was to determine the association between different types of intimate partner violence against women and nonattendance at the Growth and Development Control Program (CRED or well-child visits) of their children under 5 years of age. This was an analytical cross-sectional study that comprised a secondary analysis of data from the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES in Spanish) of Peru, 2019. Data from 19,647 mothers (aged 15-49 years) and their children under 5 years were analyzed. ⋯ Specifically, there was a higher probability of nonattendance in the children of women who experienced partner violence (sexual = aPR = 1.25 [95% CI = 1.07-1.44]; physical = aPR = 1.17 [95% CI = 1.08-1.26]; emotional = aPR = 1.12 [95% CI = 1.03-1.21]). This study showed an association indicating that children born to mothers experiencing intimate partner violence exhibit an elevated likelihood of nonattendance at CRED when compared to children of mothers not subjected to such violence. Therefore, emphasizing the promotion and monitoring of child development, especially for those with a history of maternal violence, should be a primary priority, particularly in primary care.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine contributed one of the largest migration movements in the 21st century. Refugees may become a source of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infections for the residents of host countries. The study aim was to assess knowledge and preventive practices regarding coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Ukrainian refugees in Poland. ⋯ Refugees with higher education, high SES and knowledge level had significantly greater preventive practices scores (P = .002; P = .02; P = .03, respectively). The knowledge and preventive practices level was insufficient. Educational campaigns oriented to raising knowledge and prevention behavior skills should be implemented, especially targeting high-risk groups to avoid spread of COVID-19.

Acute blockage of forearm supination due to flap tear of the triangular fibrocartilage disc: A case report.
Acute blockage of forearm supination has been reported in several studies. It is caused by loose bodies in the wrist joint, extensor carpi ulnaris tendon interposition, and distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) injuries, including forearm bone fractures. Some studies have reported cases of DRUJ injuries caused by triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tears.We report a case of acute blockage of forearm supination after minor trauma and suggest a possible TFCC tear when a patient complains of forearm supination blocking. In addition, we present a comparison between our case and other reports on etiology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, and arthroscopic findings, and show the specific characteristics of our case. ⋯ DRUJ blocking due to a TFCC tear should be suspected when acute blockage of forearm supination occurs after minor trauma. MRI is helpful for diagnosis; however, we suggest that the diagnosis should be confirmed through arthroscopy. Symptoms can be resolved by surgical treatment using arthroscopy.

Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a rare yet serious medical complication that typically arises following general anesthesia or the administration of specific anesthetics. Due to the infrequency of MH, anesthesiologists often lack sufficient expertise in identifying and managing it, leading to misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment. There is an urgent need to enhance the diagnosis and management of MH through the utilization of relevant tools. ⋯ The experience can provide a basis use of MH-NRES and improve the ability of anesthesiologists to deal with intraoperative MH as well as increase the survival probability of patients.

To explore the clinical characteristics and changes in serum CXCL10 and CXCL16 in patients with severe mycoplasma pneumonia, and to analyze the risk factors of severe mycoplasma pneumonia. About 258 children with acute mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) admitted to the respiratory department of a certain hospital from January 2020 to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects. According to the severity of MPP, patients are divided into 2 groups, namely the mild illness group (Q group) and the severe illness group (Z group). ⋯ The area under the curve of the probability curve for predicting severe mycoplasma pneumonia is 0.975 (P < .05). Children with severe mycoplasma pneumonia have significantly longer fever duration and hospital stay than those with mild symptoms. The serum levels of CXCL10 and CXCL16 are significantly elevated.
