Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Immunogenicity of a tetravalent meningococcal glycoconjugate vaccine in infants: a randomized controlled trial.
Immunization with a meningococcal tetravalent (serogroup ACWY) glycoconjugate vaccine is recommended for all US adolescents. However, the currently licensed vaccine is poorly immunogenic in infancy, when the highest rates of disease are observed. ⋯ MenACWY is well tolerated and immunogenic in infancy. Trial Registration clinicaltrials.gov Identifier: NCT00262002.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Lifestyle intervention and metformin for treatment of antipsychotic-induced weight gain: a randomized controlled trial.
Weight gain, a common adverse effect of antipsychotic medications, is associated with medical comorbidities in psychiatric patients. ⋯ Lifestyle intervention and metformin alone and in combination demonstrated efficacy for antipsychotic-induced weight gain. Lifestyle intervention plus metformin showed the best effect on weight loss. Metformin alone was more effective in weight loss and improving insulin sensitivity than lifestyle intervention alone. Trial Registration clinicaltrials.gov Identifier: NCT00451399.

Comparative Study
Rates of solid-organ wait-listing, transplantation, and survival among residents of rural and urban areas.
Disparities in access to organ transplantation exist for racial minorities, women, and patients with lower socioeconomic status or inadequate insurance. Rural residents represent another group that may have impaired access to transplant services. ⋯ Patients living in rural areas had a lower rate of wait-lisiting and transplant of solid organs, but did not experience significantly different outcomes following transplant. Differences in rates of wait-listing and transplant may be due to variations in the burden of disease between different patient groups or barriers to evaluation and waiting list entry for rural residents with organ failure.
