Music-assisted relaxation to improve sleep quality: meta-analysis.
This paper is a report of a meta-analysis conducted to evaluate the efficacy of music-assisted relaxation for sleep quality in adults and elders with sleep complaints with or without a co-morbid medical condition. ⋯ Music-assisted relaxation can be used without intensive investment in training and materials and is therefore cheap, easily available and can be used by nurses to promote music-assisted relaxation to improve sleep quality.

Association between self-report pain ratings of child and parent, child and nurse and parent and nurse dyads: meta-analysis.
This paper is a report of a meta-analysis to investigate the association between self-report pain ratings for the dyads of child and parent, child and nurse and parent and nurse. ⋯ Parents' and nurses' perceptions of children's pain should only be considered as estimates rather than expressions of the pain experienced, and not the same as children's self-reports. There is a need for education on selection of appropriate pain assessment scales in relation to the age and development of the child.

This paper is a report of a literature review to identify research involving interventions to improve medication adherence in people with multiple co-existing chronic conditions. Title. Interventions to improve medication adherence in people with multiple chronic conditions: a systematic review. Background. The importance of managing co-existing, chronic conditions in people of all ages is critical to prevent adverse health outcomes. ⋯ Interventions that improve medication adherence for people with multiple chronic conditions are essential, given the increased prevalence of these conditions in people of all ages. Outcomes of improved adherence, such as disease control and quality of life, require investigation. Psychosocial interventions engaging people in medication self-management offer potential for improved patient outcomes in complex diseases.

Catheter-related bloodstream infections in intensive care units: a systematic review with meta-analysis.
This paper is a report of a systematic review and meta-analysis of strategies, other than antimicrobial coated catheters, hypothesized to reduce risk of catheter-related bloodstream infections and catheter colonization in the intensive care unit setting. ⋯ A range of interventions may reduce risks of catheter-related bloodstream infection, in addition to antimicrobial catheters.
