A technical case report of direct surgery for spinal arteriovenous fistulas of the filum terminale. ⋯ Although intraoperative image guidance is certainly not a prerequisite, the concept of safe and minimally invasive surgery makes it indispensable. It can facilitate identification of crucial or important landmarks where anatomic structures may be distorted.

Prospective cohort observational study. ⋯ AMDs do not detect modern spinal implants. HHMDs detect all modern posterior spinal implants; this has implications for patient documentation.
-
A retrospective review of a prospectively collected database. ⋯ This study provides rates and causes of mortality associated with spine surgery for a broad range of diagnoses and includes assessments for adult and pediatric patients. These findings may prove valuable for patient counseling and efforts to improve the safety of patient care.

A case report. ⋯ Delayed anterior spinal artery syndrome after aortic coarctation repair because of anterior spinal artery thrombosis can manifest even 6 months postoperatively. Careful analysis of pre- and postoperative cross-sectional imaging should provide the correct diagnosis. Spinal digital subtraction angiography is probably unnecessary and must be interpreted with caution.
