Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a category of cardiovascular disease with a high fatality rate. ⋯ The plasma expression of miR-140-3p was upregulated in ACS patients. miR-140-3p could decrease the HCAECs' cell viability, while RHOA reversed the inhibition effect of miR-140-3p. The miR-140-3p may be a potential diagnostic biomarker for the early detection of ACS.

Cancer and its associated side effects can cause changes in dietary intakes of people with cancer due to a variety of nutrition impact symptoms. These symptoms can lead to suboptimal dietary intakes which negatively affect muscle mass and therefore survivorship. The aim of this qualitative study was to assess the nutrition needs and dietary changes made by cancer patients in Ireland. ⋯ Treatment of nutrition impact symptoms must be rapid and responsive. The development of responsive self-management resources such as booklets and apps for patients is likely to be valuable to ensure that patients can access support for their nutrition impact symptoms as-and when-they occur. Nutrition support must be integrated across the multi-disciplinary team to optimise trust in nutrition strategies.

Epiregulin: A new prognostic molecule in non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Epiregulin is a molecule that plays a role in cell proliferation, tumor development, inflammation, and angiogenesis in malignant diseases. ⋯ Our study suggests that serum epiregulin levels, discovered to increase in NHL patients for the first time, may be an independent predictive molecule in an advanced stage, extranodal involvement, and the DLBCL subtype of this disease. Epiregulin positively correlates with prognostic molecules such as beta 2-microglobulin, LDH, and CRP. Illuminating its potential role in NHL pathogenesis could make epiregulin a vital drug target for treatment.

A model to predict delivery time following induction of labor at term with a dinoprostone vaginal insert: a retrospective study.
Dinoprostone vaginal insert is the most common pharmacological method for induction of labor (IOL); however, studies on assessing the time to vaginal delivery (DT) following dinoprostone administration are limited. ⋯ Our findings may help obstetricians estimate the DT before placing a dinoprostone insert, which may improve patient management in busy maternity wards and minimize potential risks.

Spinal fusion, which is widely used in the surgical treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), limits the movements of the vertebral column. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between spinal mobility in the postoperative period with functional balance, quality of life, and perception of appearance in individuals with AIS. ⋯ In AIS, limitation of movement in the coronal, sagittal, and transverse planes is observed after fusion surgery. Spinal ROM is affected by the level of fusion performed at surgery. Postoperative spinal limitation of motion adversely affected functional balance, quality of life, and perception of appearance. We believe that comprehensive rehabilitation approaches that improve postoperative range of motion and increase functionality are important for optimal postoperative recovery.
