The aim of this research was to determine whether an intensive, nurse-led clinic could achieve recommended vascular risk reduction targets in patients with type 2 diabetes as compared to standard diabetes management. ⋯ An intensive nurse-led clinic is more successful in achieving vascular risk targets than standard diabetes care.

Medium term results of reverse total shoulder replacement in patients with rotator cuff arthropathy.
The Delta III total shoulder replacement is a reversed, semi-constrained prosthesis and is recommended for the management of rotator cuff arthropathy. ⋯ Delta III prosthesis restores the function in shoulder affected by severe pain and dysfunction due to rotator cuff arthropathy. Inferior scapular notching in the post-operative radiographs was better visualised in abduction views compared with standard anteroposterior radiographs. Long-term follow-up is required to predict the effect of scapular notching.

Although neck pain is common in patients with chronic rheumatic disorders, any change in the quality or severity of pain should be further investigated. ⋯ This report highlights the need to comprehensively evaluate patients with chronic rheumatic disorders who note a significant change in their neck symptoms.

Coroners routinely enquire into suicide deaths and communicate with people bereaved by suicide. However, no research has been conducted into coroners' attitudes towards suicide and its prevention. ⋯ Irish coroners favour communication about suicide and have a positive attitude towards its prevention but they appear to underestimate the prevalence of mental illness.
