The goal of this study was to review current knowledge on the anatomy, biomechanics, and functions of the meniscofemoral ligaments. ⋯ The contribution of the meniscofemoral ligaments in the prognosis and management of posterior cruciate ligament and meniscal injuries remains undetermined. An examination of the structure, properties, and function of the meniscofemoral ligaments reveals that more biomechanical and imaging research is required, together with clinical observations, on the consequences of rupture of these ligaments.

To evaluate the incidence of associated injuries and meniscal tears in children and adolescents with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, we performed a retrospective review of patients, age 14 and younger, who were treated surgically at our institution. ⋯ Evidence from this study supports the contention that associated injuries are common in young individuals with ACL tears. Furthermore, the data also show that a delay in surgical treatment was associated with a higher incidence of medial meniscal tears.

Recurrent atraumatic superior dislocation of the patella: case report and review of the literature.
Recurrent atraumatic superior dislocation of the patella with spontaneous reduction prevented by interlocking osteophytes has not been previously reported. Eight previous case reports were noted in the literature with single episodes of interlocking by osteophytes in a superior dislocation, none with recurrence, and all treated by closed reduction. ⋯ This case demonstrates successful arthroscopic treatment of this previously unreported condition. In light of the increasingly active aging population with coexistent patellofemoral joint osteoarthritis, this presentation may become more frequent.
