Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Cost-effectiveness of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and routine specialist care with and without cognitive behavioural therapy in adolescents with major depression.
Major depression is an important and costly problem among adolescents, yet evidence to support the provision of cost-effective treatments is lacking. ⋯ A combination of CBT plus SSRIs is not more cost-effective in the short-term than SSRIs alone for treating adolescents with major depression in receipt of routine specialist clinical care.

Comparative effectiveness of second-generation antipsychotics and haloperidol in acute schizophrenia.
There is little information on the comparative effectiveness of second-generation antipsychotic agents. ⋯ Haloperidol, olanzapine and risperidone are superior to aripiprazole, quetiapine and ziprasidone for the acute treatment of psychosis in hospitalised patients with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder or schizophreniform disorder.

Cost-effectiveness of referral for generic care or problem-solving treatment from community mental health nurses, compared with usual general practitioner care for common mental disorders: Randomised controlled trial.
UK general practitioners (GPs) refer patients with common mental disorders to community mental health nurses. ⋯ GPs should not refer unselected patients with common mental disorders to specialist nurses. Problem-solving should be reserved for patients who have not responded to initial GP care.
