Multicenter StudySurveillance of patients with long-segment Barrett's esophagus: A multicenter prospective cohort study in Japan.
The incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) in cases with long-segment Barrett's esophagus (BE) has not been investigated in Japan. The aim of this study is to investigate the incidence of EAC in Japanese cases with long-segment BE prospectively. ⋯ The incidence rate of EAC in Japanese cases with long-segment BE was calculated to be 1.2% in a year.

Multicenter StudyThe overlap of upper functional gastrointestinal disorders with irritable bowel syndrome in Chinese outpatients: A multicenter study.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common functional bowel disease, and the overlap with upper functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) is popular. However, the coexistent upper GI symptom profiles, upper FGID spectra, and related risk factors among IBS subjects remain unclear in mainland of China. ⋯ The study provides detailed overlap spectra of upper FGID with IBS. Mixed IBS is an important risk factor for IBS-FD overlap, which deserved more concern.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyComparison of scoring systems for nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding: a multicenter prospective cohort study.
The Glasgow-Blatchford score (GBS) and Rockall score (RS) are widely used to assess risk in patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). We compared both scoring systems and evaluated their clinical usefulness. ⋯ cris.nih.go.kr/KCT0000514).

Multicenter StudySafety analysis of endoscopist-directed propofol sedation: a prospective, national multicenter study of 24 441 patients in German outpatient practices.
Since 2008, there exists a German S3-guideline allowing non-anesthesiological administration of propofol for gastrointestinal endoscopy. In this prospective, national, multicenter study, we evaluated the safety of endoscopist-administered propofol sedation (EDP) in German outpatient practices of Gastroenterology. ⋯ Four years after the implementation of a German S3-Guideline for endoscopic sedation, we demonstrated that EDP is a safe procedure.

Multicenter StudyPresence of coronary artery disease increases the risk of biliary events in patients with asymptomatic gallstones.
Propensity score indicates a probability of having a confounding factor. It is used to match each patient with the closest propensity score between two groups, which is known as propensity score matching. This study aimed to evaluate the gallstone-related biliary events, defined as biliary colic and acute cholecystitis between coronary artery disease (CAD) and non-CAD patients using propensity score matching. ⋯ In patients with asymptomatic gallstones, the coexistence of CAD can increase the risk of gallstone-related biliary events, particularly acute cholecystitis. Therefore, gallstone patients with CAD should be carefully monitored, even if they are asymptomatic.
