Clinical TrialHypocalcemia is associated with hypotension during CRRT: A secondary analysis of the Acute Renal Failure Trial Network Study.
We investigated the effect of potentially modifiable continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)-related treatment factors on the risk of severe hypotension. ⋯ Of the CRRT treatment factors studied, hypocalcemia with a serum ionized calcium <1.02 mmol/l was associated with a significantly increased risk of treatment-associated hypotension. Further studies will be required to assess whether treatment targets for serum calcium improve the risk of hypotension during CRRT.

Observational StudyAn approach to develop clinical prediction rule for candidemia in critically ill patients: A retrospective observational study.
Early detection of candidemia in critically ill patients is important for preemptive antifungal treatment. Our study aimed to identify the independent risk factors for the development of a new candidemia prediction score. ⋯ Renal replacement therapy, AKI, PN, and multifocal Candida colonization were the independent risk factors for the new candidemia prediction score with high discriminatory performance and predictive accuracy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyFrequency and risk factors of post-intensive care syndrome components in a multicenter randomized controlled trial of German sepsis survivors.
Post-intensive care syndrome (PICS) is a combination of cognitive, psychiatric and physical impairments in survivors of critical illness and intensive care. There is little data on long-term co-occurrence of associated impairments. ⋯ Almost all study participants showed impairments associated with PICS in at least one domain. The proposed classification models for PICS appear to be too broad to identify specific risk factors beyond its individual components.
