Effect of parecoxib sodium pretreatment combined with dexmedetomidine on early postoperative cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients after shoulder arthroscopy: A randomized double blinded controlled trial.
To evaluate effect of parecoxib sodium pretreatment combined with dexmedetomidine on early postoperative cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients after shoulder arthroscopy. ⋯ Parecoxib sodium pretreatment combined with dexmedetomidine could reduce the incidence of early postoperative cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients. This might be related to the improvement of postoperative analgesia effect and cerebral oxygen metabolism in patients.

Evaluation of ultrasound-guided posterior quadratus lumborum block for postoperative analgesia after laparoscopic gynecologic surgery.
This study aimed to determine the efficacy of ultrasound-guided posterior quadratus lumborum block (QLB) in treating postoperative pain following laparoscopic gynecologic surgery. ⋯ Our results suggest that posterior QLB significantly reduces postoperative pain in movement and at rest following laparoscopic gynecologic surgery.

Can we use lower volume of local anesthetic for infraclavicular brachial plexus nerve block under ultrasound guidance in children?
To determine if the infraclavicular brachial plexus block can be applied with lower volume of local anesthetic. ⋯ Similar block success, postoperative sensory block durations and pain scores could be obtained during infraclavicular brachial plexus in pediatric patients with lower local anesthetic volumes.

Perioperative risks of narcolepsy in patients undergoing general anesthesia: A case-control study.
To compare the perioperative outcomes between patients with narcolepsy and matched controls undergoing anesthetic management. ⋯ Narcoleptic patients had similar intraoperative courses as the matched controls, including phase I anesthetic recovery. However, they had a higher rate of emergency response team activations than the controls, which suggests that patients with narcolepsy may be at increased perioperative risk.

At our hospital, although >90% of nulliparous parturients eventually choose epidural analgesia for labor, many delay its initiation, experiencing considerable pain in the interim. This survey probed parturients' views about the timing of initiation of epidural labor analgesia. ⋯ We found that nulliparous parturients have misconceptions about epidurals, which are not supported by evidence-based medicine. Moreover, we found that attendance at childbirth education classes was associated with believing these misconceptions.
