Dislocation is a risk factor for poor outcome after supination external rotation type ankle fractures.
Ankle fractures are one of the most common fractures requiring surgical treatment. Ankle fracture-dislocations are significant injuries to the osseous and soft tissue envelope, but studies focused on the effect of dislocation on radiographic and functional outcomes are lacking. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of dislocations on postoperative outcomes in SER IV ankle fracture patients. ⋯ The results of this study suggest that concurrent dislocation at time of ankle fracture is associated with worse radiographic and functional outcomes, but not an increase in superficial or deep infection. The results from this study may be helpful in counseling patients regarding expected clinical outcomes after ankle fracture-dislocation and in the surgical management of this complex injury.

Radiological and functional outcomes 2.7 years following conservatively treated completely displaced midshaft clavicle fractures.
It is unclear whether all completely displaced midshaft clavicle fractures require primary surgical intervention. The aim of this study was to elucidate the radiological and clinical outcomes after conservative treatment, and to identify subgroups at risk of an inferior outcome. ⋯ IV.

Randomized Controlled TrialBone remodelling after femoral short stem implantation in total hip arthroplasty: 1-year results from a randomized DEXA study.
Short stem prostheses have been developed to preserve proximal femoral bone stock. This prospective, randomized study compared periprosthetic bone remodelling following short and straight stem implantation 1 year after surgery. ⋯ One year after surgery, both stems showed an implant-specific periprosthetic bone remodelling. Nevertheless, proximal load transfer was more pronounced after short stem implantation than with a straight stem.

ReviewPrognostic factors and therapeutic options for treatment of frozen shoulder: a systematic review.
To evaluate the current status of scientific research on the natural history of frozen shoulder as published in the literature. ⋯ Spontaneous recovery to normal levels of function is possible and standardised non-operative treatment programmes are an effective alternative to surgery in most cases. However, patients with high risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, and those who suffer chronic symptoms or bilaterally affected, would benefit from early surgery. We also concluded that AMQPP score is simple and straight forward. It works as a quick quality-checking tool which helps researchers to identify the key points in each paper and reach a decision regarding the eligibility of the paper more easily. The AMQPP score is still open for further development.

Observational StudyReliability of Tönnis classification in early hip arthritis: a useless reference for hip-preserving surgery.
The Tönnis classification is widely accepted for grading hip arthritis, but its usefulness as a reference in hip-preserving surgery is yet to be demonstrated. We aimed to evaluate reproducibility of the Tönnis classification in early stages of hip osteoarthritis, and thus determine whether it is a reliable reference for hip-preserving surgery. ⋯ The Tönnis classification is a poor method to assess early stages of hip osteoarthritis. These findings suggest that its routine use in therapeutic decision-making for conservative hip surgery should be reconsidered.
