Novel endoscopic sacroiliac screw removal technique: reduction of intraoperative radiation exposure.
We report in the following on our technique of endoscopic sacroiliacal screw removal as a new extra-articular endoscopic method in soft tissue surgery, aimed at the reduction of radiation exposure for both the patient and the surgical teams. Patients who underwent endoscopic implant removal from the dorsal pelvic ring (Group A) were retrospectively compared with a control group, in which the screws were removed via the conventional approach (Group B). The parameters of interest were the extent of x-ray exposure in seconds and surgical duration in minutes as well as approach related peri- and postoperative complications. ⋯ Case-control study, Level III.

Minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis using 3D printing for shaft fractures of clavicles: technical note.
This article describes a minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis technique for midshaft fractures of clavicles using intramedullary indirect reduction and prebent plates with 3D printing models. This technique allows for easy reduction of fractures with accurate prebent plates and minimal soft tissue injury around the fracture site.

Meta Analysis Comparative StudyComparison between autologous blood transfusion drainage and no drainage/closed-suction drainage in primary total hip arthroplasty: a meta-analysis.
Primary aim of this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was to compare blood loss, transfusion rate and postoperative hemoglobin levels at 24-48 h after primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) between autologous blood transfusion (ABT) drainage and no drainage/closed-suction drainage and to obtain a powerful conclusion which way of drainage had the best clinical efficacy. Secondary aim was to compare the postoperative complication rates during the first year to indentify which way of drainage was safest. ⋯ Autologous blood transfusion drainage and no drainage/closed-suction drainage have similar clinical efficacy and safety in primary THA with regard to clinical outcomes and complication rates.

Midterm functional outcome after dorsal capsular imbrication for posttraumatic instability of the distal radioulnar joint.
The dorsal capsular imbrication of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) which was performed because of posttraumatic dorsal instability showed promising functional results after the first postoperative years. Therefore, we hypothesized that patients after capsular imbrication are characterized by good subjective and functional outcome measurements after a midterm period. ⋯ Capsular imbrication of the DRUJ is a reliable and sufficient treatment option in case of posttraumatic dorsal instability. Since DRUJ instability is seldom recognized by the patients as such, a standardised diagnostic algorithm is mandatory to guarantee reliability and efficacy for identifying DRUJ instability.

Tears of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) are very frequent injuries, particularly in young and active people. Arthroscopic reconstruction using tendon auto- or allograft represents the gold-standard for the management of ACL tears. ⋯ Understanding the mechanisms of this regeneration process and the cells involved may pave the way for novel, less invasive and biology-based strategies for ACL repair. This review aims to focus on the current knowledge on the mechanisms of ACL healing, the nature and potential of ligament derived stem/progenitor cells as well as on the potential and the limitations of using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for treating injured ACL.
