Short courses of mechanical ventilation with high-O2 levels in elderly rat lungs.
To evaluate the effects of mechanical ventilation (MV) of high-oxygen concentration in pulmonary dysfunction in adult and elderly rats. ⋯ A higher fraction of inspired oxygen in short courses of mechanical ventilation ameliorates the parameters studied in elderly lungs.

Influence of metoclopramide on abdominal wall healing in rats subjected to colonic anastomosis in the presence of peritoneal sepsis induced.
To evaluate the effects of metoclopramide on abdominal wall healing in rats in the presence of sepsis. ⋯ animals treated with metoclopramide had a higher resistance of the abdominal wall on the 3rd postoperative day.

Anatomical features of the urethra and urinary bladder catheterization in female mice and rats. An essential translational tool.
To present fundamental anatomical aspects and technical skills necessary to urethra and urinary bladder catheterization in female mice and rats. ⋯ Although technical and anatomical pearls for rodent urethral and bladder access are presented as tackles to the advancement of lower urinary tract preclinical investigation in a broaden sight, restriction to female animals hampers the male microenvironment, demanding future advances.

Contraceptive effect of Uncaria tomentosa (cat's claw) in rats with experimental endometriosis.
Evaluate the histological changes in parenchyma's epithelial layer of the uterus and ovarian of rats with induced endometriosis, treated with Uncaria tomentosa extract. ⋯ The findings suggest that Uncaria tomentosa has contraceptive effect.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyMetabolic and oxidative effects of sevoflurane and propofol in children undergoing surgery for congenital heart disease.
To evaluate the metabolic and oxidative effects of sevoflurane and propofol in children undergoing surgery for correction of congenital heart disease. ⋯ Anesthetic techniques investigated in this study showed a similar pattern, with no increase in metabolic substrates and oxidative stress during surgical correction of congenital heart defects in non-cyanotic children.
