Comment Randomized Controlled TrialComparative efficacy of quadratus lumborum type-II and erector spinae plane block in patients undergoing caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia: a randomised controlled trial.
Quadratus lumborum and erector spinae plane blocks have been used to provide analgesia in patients undergoing thoracic or abdominal surgeries. Our study compared the analgesic efficacy of the quadratus lumborum type-II block (QLB-II) and the erector spinae plane block (ESPB) in parturients who underwent caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia. ⋯ We concluded that patients who underwent QLB-II or ESPB reported similar analgesic efficacy, complications, and quality of recovery in the postoperative period.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe incidence of breakthrough pain associated with programmed intermittent bolus volumes for labor epidural analgesia: a randomized controlled trial.
In this randomized, blinded study, we evaluated the effects of different programmed intermittent epidural bolus (PIEB) volumes for labor analgesia on the incidence of breakthrough pain and other analgesic outcomes. ⋯ The larger PIEB volumes were preferred for epidural labor analgesia compared with a smaller volume because of improved analgesia without clinically significant increases in adverse effects.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of low dose phenylephrine infusion on shivering and hypothermia in patients undergoing cesarean section under spinal anesthesia: a randomized clinical trial.
Shivering is a common complication of spinal anesthesia. Phenylephrine, due to its peripheral vasoconstrictive effect, may limit the core to periphery redistribution of body temperature following spinal anesthesia, and reduce hypothermia and shivering. We hypothesized that prophylactic phenylephrine infusion would reduce shivering and hypothermia in women undergoing cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. ⋯ The incidence of shivering and degree of hypothermia were significantly reduced by a prophylactic phenylephrine infusion during cesarean section under spinal anesthesia.

Randomized Controlled TrialColloid coload versus crystalloid coload to prevent maternal hypotension in women receiving prophylactic phenylephrine infusion during caesarean delivery: a randomised controlled trial.
The optimal fluid strategy to prevent maternal hypotension during caesarean delivery remains unclear. This study aim was to compare the incidence of post-spinal anaesthesia hypotension in women receiving either colloid or crystalloid coload in the setting of prophylactic phenylephrine infusion during caesarean delivery. ⋯ This study found no benefit of colloid coload compared with crystalloid coload for preventing maternal hypotension in the presence of prophylactic phenylephrine infusion during caesarean delivery.
