Effects of Mobile Phone-based Telemedicine Management in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
This study aims to explore the effect of mobile phone-based telemedicine management of glycemic control of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). ⋯ Compared with conventional intervention, the mobile phone-based telemedicine management can help patients with T2DM to improve glycemic level and quality of life.

Effect of Story-Based Audiovisual Mnemonics in Comparison with Text-Reading Method on Memory Consolidation among Medical Students: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Traditional teaching methods via faculty lectures and text-based materials lack interactivity. Hence, this research aimed to compare the effectiveness of story-based audiovisual mnemonics and the conventional text-reading method on medical students' memory consolidation. ⋯ The story-based audiovisual mnemonics method is more effective than the conventional text-reading method in promoting memory retention among medical students.

Preoperative Vitamin D Supplementation in Patients With Vitamin D Deficiency Undergoing Total Thyroidectomy.
Transient hypocalcemia due to parathyroid gland or vessel manipulation is a common complication following thyroidectomy. Considering the role of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) in calcium hemostasis, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of preoperative vitamin D supplementation on hypocalcemia incidence in thyroidectomy patients. ⋯ Vitamin D supplementation in patients with vitamin D deficiency might lead to a lower incidence of early-onset symptomatic hypocalcemia; hence, requiring less calcium supplementation for the management of hypocalcemia.

The Effect of Vidian Neurectomy on Pulmonary Function in Patients with Allergic Rhinitis and Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps.
At present, the effect of operation intervention on pulmonary function is not clear in patients with allergic rhinitis and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (AR&CRSwNP). This study was conducted to investigate the effect of vidian neurectomy on pulmonary function and airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) in patients with AR&CRSwNP. ⋯ Vidian neurectomy is effective in alleviating nasal symptoms, improving pulmonary function, and reducing the risk of AHR of patients with AR&CRSwNP by decreasing the level of ECP.

Beneficial Effects of Pentoxifylline Plus Losartan Dual Therapy in Type 2 Diabetes with Nephropathy.
This study was designed to comparatively assess the effects of add-on pentoxifylline to losartan versus increasing the dose of losartan on serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), serum highly sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and the urinary albumin excretion (UAE) rate in patients with type 2 diabetes and nephropathy. ⋯ Circulating NT-proBNP levels equally and significantly reduced from baseline in the pentoxifylline and losartan treatment arms, in parallel with comparatively superior decreases of UAE and serum hsCRP in the pentoxifylline arm, and larger decreases of systolic and diastolic blood pressures in the losartan arm.
