Meta AnalysisInfection with human cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, and high-risk types 16 and 18 of human papillomavirus in EGFR-mutated lung adenocarcinoma.
To assess the frequency of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and high-risk types of human papillomavirus (HPV16 and HPV18) infections in lung adenocarcinoma samples. ⋯ HCMV, EBV, and high-risk HPV infections are more frequent in EGFR-mutated lung adenocarcinomas, which indicates a possible viral impact on the etiology of this lung cancer subtype.

Meta AnalysisGenetic sub-structuring of Croatian island populations in the Southeastern European context: a meta-analysis.
To use the method of meta-analysis to assess the influence of island population isolation on the sub-structuring of the Croatian population, as well as the influence of regional population groups on the sub-structuring of the Southeastern European population with regard to basic population genetic statistical parameters calculated by using STR locus analysis. ⋯ The higher structure of Croatian subpopulations in relation to Southeastern Europe suggest a certain degree of genetic isolation, most likely due to the influence of endogamy within rural island populations.

Meta AnalysisThe prognostic role of diabetes mellitus type 2 in the setting of hepatocellular carcinoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
To evaluate the effect of diabetes mellitus type 2 (T2DM) on the outcomes after treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). ⋯ Current data provide strong evidence that T2DM unfavorably affects HCC progression and recurrence, and patients' survival after treatment, irrespective of the approach used.

Meta AnalysisAngiotensinogen-M235T as a risk factor for myocardial infarction in Asian populations: a genetic association study and a bioinformatics approach.
To investigate if there is an association between M235T polymorphism of angiotensinogen gene and myocardial infarction (MI) risk and perform a meta-analysis and an in silico approach. ⋯ Our study suggests that M235T polymorphism might be a helpful biomarker for screening of susceptible individuals for MI in Asian population.
