Randomized Controlled TrialPreventive Effect of Preoperative Administration of Hange-Shashin-To on Postoperative Sore Throat: A Prospective, Double-Blind, Randomized Trial.
The present study aimed to determine the efficacy of Hange-Shashin-To (HST), a Kampo medicine, in treating postoperative sore throat and nausea. ⋯ HST administration before general anesthesia did not alleviate postoperative nausea, but effectively decreased the incidence and severity of postoperative sore throat in female patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe Use of Wet Cupping for Persistent Nonspecific Low Back Pain: Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial.
To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of wet cupping therapy as a single treatment for persistent nonspecific low back pain (PNSLBP). ⋯ Wet cupping is potentially effective in reducing pain and improving disability associated with PNSLBP at least for 2 weeks after the end of the wet cupping period. Placebo-controlled trials are needed.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of Inhaled Lavender and Sleep Hygiene on Self-Reported Sleep Issues: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To compare the effectiveness of lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and sleep hygiene versus sleep hygiene alone on sleep quantity and sleep quality and to determine sustained effect at two-week follow-up. ⋯ Lavender and sleep hygiene together, and sleep hygiene alone to a lesser degree, improved sleep quality for college students with self-reported sleep issues, with an effect remaining at follow-up.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyExperimental integrative muscular movement technique enhances cervical range of motion in patients with chronic neck pain: a pilot study.
Neck pain presents a tremendous physical and financial burden. This study compared the efficacy of the complementary and alternative medical treatments of integrative muscular movement technique (IMMT) and Swedish massage on neck pain in women of occupation age, the largest demographic group with neck pain. ⋯ Patients receiving the IMMT demonstrated significantly improved cervical ROM in every movement measured compared with Swedish massage. Inclusion of the IMMT in a treatment regimen for chronic neck pain may lead to decreased pain and increased cervical ROM. These positive effects of the IMMT intervention may have a role in enhancing functional outcomes in patients with neck pain.

Randomized Controlled TrialCombined intervention with education and progressive muscle relaxation on quality of life, functional disability, and positive symptoms in patients with acute schizophrenia.
To explore the effects of combined intervention with education and progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) on quality of life (QoL), functional disability, and positive symptoms of patients with acute schizophrenia. ⋯ A combined intervention with education and PMR is effective in improving QoL, functional disability, and positive symptoms in patients with acute schizophrenia. The combined intervention model could be a new paradigm of adjunctive treatment for acute schizophrenia.
