Long-term Outcomes of a Randomized Controlled Trial of Single-incision Versus Multi-port Laparoscopic Colectomy for Colon Cancer.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term outcomes that were the secondary endpoints of a RCT of multi-port laparoscopic colectomy (MPC) versus SILC in colon cancer surgery. ⋯ Even though the results of the 5-year OS and RFS in this trial were exploratory and underpowered, there were no statistically significant differences between the SILC and MPC arms. SILC may be an acceptable treatment option for select patients with colon cancer.

We review the existing research on environmentally sustainable surgical practices to enable SAO to advocate for improved environmental sustainability in operating rooms across the country. ⋯ Climate change adversely impacts patient health, and disproportionately impacts the most vulnerable patients. SAO contribute to the problem through their resource-intensive work in the OR and are uniquely positioned to lead efforts to improve the environmental sustainability of the OR.

Anaphylactic Reaction Rates to Blue Dyes Used for Sentinel Lymph Node Mapping: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
The primary objective of this study was to quantify the risk of anaphylaxis to blue dyes used in SLNB for cancer. Secondary outcomes included the identification of factors that may influence this risk. ⋯ Anaphylaxis to blue dyes in SLNB is rare. Methylene blue, patent blue, lower dye volumes, and intradermal administration are all associated with a lower incidence of anaphylaxis.

To appraise the quality of reporting on guideline, protocol, and algorithm implementations in adult trauma settings according to the Revised Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence (SQUIRE 2.0). ⋯ Significant opportunity exists to improve the utility of guideline implementation reports in adult trauma settings, particularly in the domains of study context and the implications of context for study outcomes.

Noninvasive Discrimination of Low and High-risk Pancreatic Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasms.
To propose a noninvasive diagnostic approach, which allows reliable distinction between low- and high-risk pancreatic intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs). ⋯ This study highlights the synergistic predictive value of combining a novel serum protein signature with conventional clinical characteristics to risk-stratify IPMN patients. If these findings are supported by larger validation studies, they might enable more rational decision-making in clinical management of IPMN patients in conjunction with clinical guidelines.
