To examine whether long-term surveillance of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) leads to early diagnosis and better clinical outcomes of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs) developing concomitantly with IPMNs. ⋯ The surveillance for patients with IPMNs was associated with early identification of concomitant PDACs and longer survival of patients diagnosed with this malignancy.

Biliary atresia (BA) is a rare disease and reported outcomes of surgical management, typically a Kasai portoenterostomy (KPE), vary considerably across the world. Centralization has been proposed to improve this. ⋯ There have been continued improvements in efficiency over the period of centralization with a significant reduction in time to KPE and improved CoJ following KPE. Overall survival in this disease remains >90%.

We aimed to determine if advances in neoadjuvant therapy affected recurrence patterns and survival outcomes after pancreatectomy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). ⋯ We observed changes in neoadjuvant therapy regimens over time and an associated shift in the conditional risk of recurrence from postoperative year 1 to postoperative year 2, although recurrence remained common. Overall survival and post-recurrence survival remarkably improved over time, reflecting improved multimodality regimens for recurrent disease.

To determine the association between burns and hospitalization for mental health disorders up to three decades later. ⋯ Burns are associated with an increased risk of hospitalization for mental health disorders up to 30 years later.
