Systemic Inflammatory Biomarkers in Patients with Fuchs' Uveitis Syndrome: Neutrophil/Lymphocyte Ratio and Platelet/Lymphocyte Ratio.
To evaluate the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in patients with Fuchs' uveitis syndrome (FUS). ⋯ The current study suggests that a slowly progressive immune-mediated process can affect peripheral blood inflammatory biomarkers and there is evidence of benign subclinical systemic inflammation in patients with FUS. Key Words: Fuchs uveitis syndrome, Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, Platelet to lymphocyte ratio.

Microwave Ablation of Benign Thyroid Nodules: Effects on Systemic Inflammatory Response.
To explore the alterations of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as a systemic inflammatory marker after microwave ablation for benign thyroid nodules. Study Design: A descriptive study. ⋯ After ultrasound-guided microwave ablation of benign thyroid module, VRR percentage increased significantly, while the inflammatory marker NLR value decreased. Key Words: Biomarker, Inflammation, Microwaves, Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, Thyroid nodule.

Review Meta AnalysisEfficiency of Thyroid Function Test in the Prediction of Atrial Fibrillation Following Open Heart Surgery.
To analyse the efficiency of thyroid function tests (thyroid stimulating hormone, thyroxine and tri-iodothyronine) on prediction of postoperative atrial fibrillation. ⋯ Preoperative levels of tri-iodothyronine was an effective parameter for predicting postoperative atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery, but there was a need of larger trials for eliminating heterogeneity for all of the parameters of thyroid function tests. Key Words: Cardiac surgery, Atrial fibrillation, Thyroid stimulating hormone, Thyroxine, Tri-iodothyronine.

Case ReportsControl of Refractory Hypercalcemia with Denosumab in a Case of Metastatic Parathyroid Carcinoma.
Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare cause of hyperparathyroidism and leads to severe hypercalcemia. The etiology is not fully known. Parathyroid cancer should be considered in the differential diagnosis, if serum calcium and parathyroid hormone levels increase, and parathyroid gland is palpable. ⋯ Herein, we report a case of a patient who presented with the complaint of leg pain and was diagnosed with parathyroid carcinoma. The elevated calcium level of the patient was controlled with denosumab. Key Words: Parathyroid carcinoma, Denosumab, Hypercalcemia, Hyperparathyroidism.

Neonatal Outcome of Pregnancies Complicated with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia.
To determine the neonatal outcome with maternal idiopathic thrombocytopenia. ⋯ There are considerable chances of neonatal thrombocytopenia when mothers were suffering with idiopathic thrombocytopenia during pregnancy. These findings may be useful for the medical staff to counsel pre-pregnant or pregnant women with ITP as well as care required during delivery. Key Words: Thrombocytopenia, Idiopathic thrombocytopenia, Neonatal ITP, Pre-natal ITP.
