Review Meta AnalysisPrevalence of chronic pain after spinal cord injury: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The reported prevalence of chronic pain after spinal cord injury (SCI) varies widely due, in part, to differences in the taxonomy of chronic pain. A widely used classification system is available to describe subcategories of chronic pain in SCI, but the prevalence of chronic pain in SCI based on this system is unknown. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis extends the findings of previous studies by reporting the prevalence of chronic pain after SCI based on the ISCIP classification system, thereby reducing clinical heterogeneity in the reporting of pain prevalence related to SCI.

ReviewRegional anesthesia for scapular fracture surgery: an educational review of anatomy and techniques.
Scapular fractures are very rare, and those requiring surgical interventions are even rarer. Most scapula surgeries are done under general anesthesia with or without the regional anesthesia (RA) technique as an adjunct. ⋯ In this review, we are describing an algorithmic "identify-select-combine" approach, which enables the anesthesiologist to understand detailed innervation of the scapula and to obtain a procedure-specific RA technique. Procedure-specific RA would probably be the way forward for defining future RA practices.

ReviewIntracranial hematoma and abscess after neuraxial analgesia and anesthesia: a review of the literature describing 297 cases.
Besides spinal complications, intracranial hematoma or abscess may occur after neuraxial block. Risk factors and outcome remain unclear. ⋯ Diagnosis of intracranial hematoma is often missed initially, as headache is assumed to be caused by cerebrospinal hypotension due to cerebrospinal fluid leakage, known as PDPH. Prolonged headache without improvement, worsening symptoms despite treatment or epidural blood patch, change of headache from postural to non-postural or new neurological signs should alert physicians to alternative diagnoses.

Multicenter StudyClinical and technical factors associated with knee radiofrequency ablation outcomes: a multicenter analysis.
There has been a surge in interest in radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the genicular nerves over the past decade, with wide variability in selection, technique and outcomes. The aim of this study is to determine factors associated with treatment outcome. ⋯ We identified multiple clinical and technical factors associated with treatment outcome, which should be considered when selecting patients for RFA treatment and in the design of clinical trials.

Randomized Controlled TrialBilateral mandibular block improves pain relief and morphine consumption in mandibular osteotomies: a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial.
The sensory innervation of the lower jaw mainly depends on the third root of the trigeminal nerve, the mandibular nerve (V3). The aim of this single-center, prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was to evaluate the effectiveness of bilateral V3 block for postoperative analgesia management in mandibular osteotomies. ⋯ Bilateral V3 block for mandibular osteotomies is an effective opioid-sparing procedure. It provided better postoperative analgesia in the first 24 hours, and it did not affect PONV incidence.
