The aims of this study were to characterize the epidemiologic, histologic, and radiologic aspects of sphenopetroclival meningiomas (SpPCMs) and to evaluate the outcome of Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS) either as an adjunct to microsurgery or as a primary SpPCM treatment modality. ⋯ GKRS can be an effective alternative treatment for controlling the progression of SpPCM tumors, producing appropriate clinical outcomes and few complications.

Multicenter Study Comparative Study
Image guidance for the placement of Ommaya reservoirs: A comparison of fluoroscopy and frameless stereotactic navigation in 145 patients.
Ommaya reservoirs are used for administration of intrathecal chemotherapy and cerebrospinal fluid sampling. Ventricular catheter placement for these purposes requires a high degree of accuracy. Various options exist to optimize catheter placement. We analyze a cohort of patients receiving catheters using 2 different technologies. ⋯ Ommaya reservoirs can be placed accurately using different methods. Although there are slight differences between fluoroscopy and frameless stereotaxy in quantitative accuracy and procedure time, there is no significant advantage of 1 method over the other when evaluating revision or complication rates. Technique familiarity and surgeon preference may dictate the preferred procedure.

Review Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Is mini-plate fixation superior to suture suspensory fixation in cervical laminoplasty?:A Meta-Analysis.
Owing to the small sample sizes in individual studies reported to date, whether or not mini-plate fixation is better than suture suspensory fixation in unilateral open-door laminoplasty is unclear. Thus, we conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate which fixation method is superior in cervical laminoplasty for patients with multilevel cervical spondylotic myelopathy (MCSM). ⋯ Although suture suspensory fixation was associated with better postoperative JOA scores, mini-plate fixation was superior in reducing the incidence of surgical complications. To avoid severe surgical complications, mini-plate fixation is a good choice for laminoplasty for patients with MCSM. Valid evidence depends on more high-quality, randomized controlled trials in the future.

Review Case Reports
Cervical myelopathy caused by bilateral laminar cleft of the axis: A case report and review of the literature.
Cervical myelopathy due to bilateral laminar cleft of the axis is extremely rare, and few cases have been previously reported. However, its treatment is relatively simple. Surgical removal of the anomalous bony structure compromising the spinal canal can sufficiently achieve a good outcome. ⋯ Invaginated bilateral laminar cleft of the axis is a rare cause of cervical myelopathy. The findings in our case should broaden the radiographic differential diagnosis in patients with cervical myelopathy. Surgical removal is an appropriate and simple treatment for this patient, resulting in a satisfactory outcome.

From Luessenhop's early clinical experience until the present day, experimental methods have been introduced to make progress in endovascular neurosurgery. ⋯ We must learn how to safely practice endovascular neurosurgery in the presence of uncertainty and verify patient outcomes in real time.
