In severe cases refractory to medical treatment, APC appears to be the preferred alternative to control persistent rectal bleeding of patients with chronic radiation proctitis. Although successful outcomes have been demonstrated in patients previously treated with moderate doses of radiotherapy, there is reluctance towards its indication due to the concern of severe adverse events in patients treated with high doses of radiation. ⋯ The argon plasma coagulation is an effective and safe management option in patients with medically refractory rectal bleeding after high doses of radiation for prostate cancer.

Diverticular disease is the most frequent cause of lower gastrointestinal bleeding. Most of the times, bleeding stops without any intervention but in 10-20% of the cases it is necessary to treat the hemorrhage. ⋯ All the colonoscopies were performed without purging of the colon in an emergency setting, with correct visualization of the point of bleeding. Patients recovered well avoiding other aggressive procedures such as angiography or surgery.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Intermittent boluses versus pump continuous infusion for endoscopist-directed propofol administration in colonoscopy.
non-anesthesiologist administration of propofol (NAAP) using continuous infusion systems may achieve a more sustained sedative action. ⋯ NAAP for colonoscopy was safely administered with comparable satisfaction and complication rates with either IB or PCI.
