Evaluation of the patient with obesity is a challenge due to the technical difficulties to carry out measurements. ⋯ The association of WC and NC with cardio-metabolic risk indicators and the association of NC with treatment success in patients with morbid obesity was documented. Given the simplicity for obtaining it, NC might replace WC in the assessment and follow-up of patients with class III obesity.

Retirement of physicians from their professional activity is a subject of global interest. In Mexico, there is no official regulation that determines the age at which physicians should retire from their profession as in other countries. This symposium presents the measures implemented at the ABC Medical Center in recent years about physicians' retirement, with the establishment of a committee. This has been achieved in part also with the creation of group medical practices that integrate doctors in their different specialties, whose interest among other aspects of individual and collective interest, is the establishment of a retirement fund.

Classification of fundus autofluorescence abnormal patterns in diabetic macular edema.
Patients with diabetic macular edema can develop fundus autofluorescence alterations; thus far, these alterations have been more widely studied with scanning or confocal laser systems. ⋯ Different fundus autofluorescence phenotypic patterns are observed with flash camera systems in patients with diabetic macular edema. A more accurate phenotypic classification could help establish prognostic factors for visual loss or for the design of clinical trials for diabetic macular edema.

Acute respiratory infections are one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in older adults and patients with chronic diseases. Among the responsible etiological agents are human respiratory viruses, such as: respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza virus and metapneumovirus. ⋯ The knowledge of the circulating viral strains in the population will allow to determine changes that can declare an epidemiological alert leading to the best decision making for the benefit of the patients.
