Kawasaki disease (KD) is a systemic vasculitis of unknown cause which usually diagnosed in small children. However, KD can be present as coronary disease in adults even with no history of the disease in childhood. Here, we describe a case of KD in a 42-year-old male patient presented with severe retrosternal chest pain radiating to the left arm and provisionally diagnosed as acute coronary disease. ⋯ The patient was treated with Aspirin 81 mg orally once daily, Apixapan 5 mg orally twice daily, Rosuvastatin 40 mg orally once daily, Bisoprolol 5 mg orally once daily, and omeprazole 20 mg orally once daily. The patient was improved and discharged with anticoagulant drugs for life. Physicians should be aware that KD can be present as coronary disease in adults even with no history of the disease in childhood and has a limited treatment options due to unfavorable coronary anatomy.

To explore the clinical value of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) combined with contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) for characterization and diagnosis of small nodular lesions in the liver and investigate the association between such small nodular lesions and the degree of tumor differentiation. ⋯ CECT combined with CEUS has a higher coincidence rate, greater sensitivity, and better diagnostic accuracy when being used for characterization and diagnosis of small nodular lesions in the liver. A higher degree of tumor differentiation means a decreased magnitude of contrast enhancement and a blurrier boundary, which indicates that CECT and CEUS are complementary to each other in classifying malignant liver nodules. The use of the combined imaging modalities shows clinical value for characterizing small liver nodules and predicting the degree of malignancy.

Active learning methods are vital in inculcating skills of critical thinking, lifelong learning and effective communication. Personality may influence learning method preferences and academic performance. The aim of this cross sectional study was to examine the relationship between students' personality and their predilection for learning methods and academic performance. ⋯ The findings provide an evidence for modest correlations between personality and perceived effectiveness of learning methods. Remarkably, perceived effectiveness decreased for the lecture and increased for the PBL over time. The findings may help educators in better implementing active learning modalities. Besides, an earlier introduction may help students becoming acquainted with and getting the most out of PBL.

Sigmoid volvulus (SV) recurrence more than 10 times is an extremely rare clinical entity and spontaneous detorsion is a rare outcome of SV. In this paper, we report a case with 19 previous SV attacks, in last of which spontaneous detorsion occurred. Such a multiple-episode history as well as an unexpected recovery was unique in a 1,036-case clinical profession of Ataturk University with SV over a 54.5-year period.

The present most modern and highly advanced 21'st century is the era of science and technology. In human history, universities are the basic birthplace of higher education, research, and innovation and play a significant role in the countries' performance, prosperity, and economic progress. Worldwide, there is a swift shift in the pattern of biological, environmental, economic, and educational systems. ⋯ Many universities worldwide, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, promote D. Sc degree programs in various science disciplines, including medical sciences. This manuscript explores the dynamics of a higher doctorate and its significance, need, and demand in academia to compete globally.
