To determine the clinical efficacy of linagliptin combined with irbesartan in patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN). ⋯ Combined-modality treatment with linagliptin and irbesartan shows favorable clinical efficacy in treating diabetic nephropathy as it effectively protects the kidneys and improves kidney function by inhibiting inflammatory and oxidative stress responses.

To determine the frequency of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and its associated risk factors among Type-2 Diabetic patients. ⋯ There is high prevalence of NAFLD among Type-2 diabetic patients and strong association between Type-2 diabetics with NAFLD and risk factors like; obesity, high HbA1c, hyperlipidemia and high ALT. Therefore, early recognition by ultrasonography in high risk patients and intervention like life style modification, maintenance of healthy weight, obesity prevention, treatment of dyslipidemia and good glycemic control should be achieved in such subjects and can prevent NAFLD.

HIV/AIDS is mostly seen in people who inject recreational drugs (PWID). Adherence has to be optimum for its treatment to be effective. Compliance to HIV medication has been problematic in PWID making HIV control difficult. Many studies in the past have validated educational activities like rehabilitation programs beneficial in maintaining regularity in medication intake. This brought us to the question of looking at such programs and its effects on our population. This study was conducted to assess the impact of other perspectives of abstinence and adherence including family support and employment status on a person's willingness for treatment continuation and avoidance of drugs. ⋯ Family and spousal support and employment promote optimal ARV compliance and should be encouraged when starting ARVs. Enrollment in a long-term complementing educational program would further enhance ARV intake and abstinence.

To investigate the effect and clinical value of the application of vacuum assisted closure (VAC) combined with multiple flaps in the treatment of severe hand trauma. ⋯ VAC combined with multiple flaps boasts significant trauma repair effect and preferable clinical application value in the treatment of patients with severe hand trauma, which is principally reflected in significantly improving the hand function of patients and remarkably alleviating the inflammatory response of patients.

Retinoblastoma is a malignant intraocular tumor and its treatment requires a multidisciplinary approach. Chemotherapy is an important modality in treatment of retinoblastoma. The purpose of this study was to assess the histopathological changes in retinoblastomas treated with chemotherapy along with correlation of comorbid conditions with high risk histopathological factors (HRF). ⋯ Histopathological evaluation of chemotherapy-treated eyes shows varying degrees of response to chemotherapy. Post enucleation histopathological evaluation of the globe plays an important role in assessing disease activity and guiding further treatment to prevent metastasis.
