To determine validity of the CLL International prognostic index (IPI) scoring system in Pakistani chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients, as the validity and universal applicability of various prognostic scoring systems such as the CLL-IPI remains a challenge, particularly in under-developed countries like Pakistan. ⋯ To conclude, clinical validation of CLL-IPI scoring system could not be established for the present CLL cohort and needs to be evaluated in further studies with larger sample size.

To investigate the correlation of serum osteopontin levels with disease severity and prognosis in patients with acute cerebral infarction. ⋯ OPN is involved in the entire pathophysiological process of ACI, and its level can predict the severity of the disease in patients with ACI, and can be used as an important indicator for evaluating their clinical prognosis.

To explore the correlation of iron deficiency (ID) indexes with eradication and recurrence of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection in children. ⋯ Low level of SF may be a risk factor for difficulty in eradication and recurrence after eradication in children with Hp infection. Meanwhile, low levels of Hb and SI are influential factors for difficulty in eradication in children with Hp infection.

Aging is a global trend, and Korea is also entering an aging society, which threatens the mental health of the elderly due to isolation, etc. In line with the growing domestic and international interest in elderly issues, this study aimed to identify the effects of depression, stress and self-esteem on the lives of the elderly in South Korea and to provide basic data for welfare measures. ⋯ With the global trend of an aging society, it is essential to continue to pay attention to assist the lives of elderly and provide them with practical support and policies. The quality of life of the elderly requires continuous attention and efforts to support and policies for mental health and economic support.

To evaluate the clinical efficacy of recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor (rh-bFGF) combined with ranitidine in the treatment of recurrent oral ulcer and its effects on serum TNF, IL-2 and T-lymphocyte subsets. ⋯ Recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor combined with ranitidine is effective in the treatment of recurrent oral ulcers, boasting various benefits such as effectively promoting ulcer healing, reducing pain and inflammatory response, and enhancing immune function.
