To determine the sensitivity of ACR-TIRADS scoring by comparing its results with those obtained on biopsy of respective specimens. ⋯ The Ultrasonographic ACR-TIRADS scoring and risk stratification system is highly sensitive for detecting malignancy in thyroid nodules. It is, therefore, a reliable technique in the initial assessment of thyroid nodules and decisions can safely be based on its results. In cases of doubt, clinical judgment should be exercised before making final decision.

To compare the platelet count, platelet concentration/yield, residual Red blood cells (RBCs) and White blood cells (WBCs) counts in platelet-rich plasma (PRP) samples prepared from the single- and the double-centrifugation protocols. ⋯ The double centrifugation protocol resulted in higher platelet quantity and yield with less contamination by red and white blood cells than did the single centrifugation protocol for PRP preparation. So, double centrifugation method is beneficial in preparation of autologous as well as allogenic PRP.

To determine the effects of fasting on weight and eventually on Body Mass Index (BMI) in medical students of a Public Sector Medical College. ⋯ Ramadan offers a non-hazardous way of weight loss. Further studies across different geographical locations with larger sample sizes should be conducted to identify and quantify the association between weight and fasting and also to identify potential confounders.

Serous ovarian carcinoma (SOC) is characterized by extreme genomic instability, chromosomal rearrangements and copy number variations (CNVs) leading to the development of early metastasis and chemo-resistance. The present study was designed to observe the role of CNVs of Cyclin E1 (CCNE1) and Epithelial cell transforming sequence- 2 (ECT2) genes and their encoded proteins in predicting the chemotherapeutic response in SOC patients. ⋯ The copy number variations of CCNE1 and ECT2 genes and their protein expression are positively associated with chemotherapeutic response in SOC patients.

To investigate and analyze the clinical observation of porcine collagen membrane + artificial bovine bone granules guided tissue regeneration (GTR) combined with autologous concentration of growth factors (CGF) in the treatment of severe periodontitis bone defect. ⋯ Porcine collagen membrane + artificial bovine bone granules GTR combined with autologous CGF boasts various benefits in the treatment of severe periodontitis bone defects, such as improvement of clinical outcomes, amelioration of periodontal tissue and inhibition of bone resorption.
