To compare the clinical effects of marrow core decompression with bone grafting and marrow core decompression with porous tantalum rod implantation in treating avascular necrosis of non-traumatic femoral head. ⋯ The combination of marrow core decompression and porous tantalum rod implantation can better improve the functions of hip joints with early femoral head necrosis than marrow core decompression with bone grafting, and can also prevent articular cartilage from collapsing gradually.

This research was conducted to analyze the elements and factors that link with newborn deaths at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of a public teaching hospital in Jordan. ⋯ Sepsis, RDS, and asphyxia were the leading causes of morbidity in neonates. These diseases were also responsible for a high rate of mortality. Understanding the cause of morbidity and mortality of neonates admitted at NICU is useful for prioritizing and planning health services, re-allocating resources, and improving the quality of care.

Urinary tract infections due to multi drug resistant bacteria have been on the rise globally with serious implications for public health. The objective of this study was to explore the prevalence of multi drug resistant uropathogens and to correlate the urinary tract infections with some demographic and clinical characteristics of patients admitted in a tertiary care hospital in Bangladesh. ⋯ There is very high prevalence of multi drug resistant uropathogens among hospitalized patients and emergence of carbapenem resistance is an alarming situation. Antibiotic stewardship program is highly recommended for hospitals to combat antimicrobial resistance.

The aim of this study was to analyze the relevant factors regarding metabolic syndrome (MS) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). ⋯ MS in SLE was closely related to BMI, blood pressure, blood sugar, blood lipids, arthritis, white blood cells, and urea. Targeted prevention and conclusion measures for the risk factors should be taken as early as possible.

To study whether the levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25-(OH)D3) and Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) are correlated to the eradication and recurrence of helicobacter pylori (Hp) in paediatric patients with Hp infection-related gastritis. ⋯ Relatively high levels of IL-1β may be correlated to the difficulty in eradicating the Hp infection in paediatric patients. Relatively low levels of 25-(OH) D3 may be correlated to the difficulty in eradicating the Hp infection and recurrence in paediatric patients.
