Primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) is worldwide prevalent ailment, affecting millions, and leading irreversible cause of blindness. The treatment strategies revolve around one modifiable factor, elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), despite POAG presenting with normal IOP. Emphasis is put forth in recent past detecting structural elements of glaucoma; lamina cribrosa (LC) is found to be a promising prospect. ⋯ In this review, the authors explored scientific works from 1976 till 2018 through Google, Google Scholar, PubMed, HEC Digital Library, Springerlink, and PakMedinet in four months' time, extracted structural features of LC, its measurable attributes, fresh innovations employed for in-vivo visualization and clinical signs aiding in establishing diagnosis of glaucoma which will assist as a prophylactic measure against GON. No such work has ever been done in South-East Asia including our country. So LC opens a new horizon for research in Pakistan.

Blood loss in cesarean deliveries has already been established in previous researches but a detailed insight into the correlates has not been done. This study examined whether the number of previous Cesarean sections is related to the need for blood transfusion, and risk factors for blood transfusion. ⋯ Women undergoing Cesarean sections combined with any of the risk factors like increased body mass index, dense adhesions, uterine atony, hypertension and presence of placenta previa, were found to be at increased risk for a need for blood transfusions.

To find out the association of weight, height and age with spirometry variables and to generate a regression equation by taking weight as an independent variable beside age and height among children and adolescents of Karachi. ⋯ It is concluded that beside age, height and weight both also have significant correlation with lung volumes so these should be taken into account when using spirometry as a diagnostic test.

To find out the particulars regarding contraceptive practices in the postpartum period and to see its impact on prolonging interpregnancy interval (IPI). ⋯ Uptake and continuation of modern methods of contraception was low after last birth culminating in short interpregnancy interval. Optimal IPI was observed in those utilizing modern methods of family planning, with marked effect in users of long acting reversible contraceptive methods.

Mental health problems not only affect the common person but also medical health practitioners (MHPs) dealing with health care issues of patients. The current study aimed to explore the triadic (three dimensional) comorbidity of mental health problems and its association with three forms of psychological burnout (person, client and work related). ⋯ MHPs demonstrated excessive severe comorbidity of depression, anxiety and stress simultaneously. Along with this triadic comorbidity, the presence of severe psychological burnout is alarming and affecting overall efficiency and mental health of doctors which need to be identified, screened out and managed timely and managed properly.
