To investigate the possible morbidities associated with the implantation of a totally implantable venous access device (TIVAD) in breast cancer (BC) patients. ⋯ This study concludes that the right SCV approach remains a morbidity-safe route for TIVAD implantation in BC patients, as in other malignancies. The study suggests that clinicians can use other implantation routes to avoid catheter-related infection in patients scheduled for neoadjuvant treatment, who also have morbidity, and who are likely to receive postoperative radiotherapy.

This study aims to determine the possible embryotoxic effects of propofol on the cerebellum and spinal cord using fertile chicken eggs. ⋯ It was concluded that the in-ovo-administered propofol given immediately before incubation has adverse effects on the developing cerebellum and spinal cord. Therefore, it is important for anesthesiologists always to remain vigilant when treating female patients of childbearing age.

Medication overuse is common among chronic migraine patients and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the most frequently overused drugs. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying medication overuse headache (MOH) are not completely understood. Intestinal hyperpermeability and leaky gut are reported in patients using NSAIDs. The aim of the study is to investigate the role of leaky gut and inflammation in an MOH model MOH model in male rats. ⋯ Elevated serum occludin and LBP levels and brain IL-17 and HMGB1 levels indicate a possible role of leaky gut and inflammation in an MOH model in male rats. Additionally, a significant correlation between pain behavior and markers of inflammation and intestinal hyperpermeability, supports the role of inflammation and leaky gut in MOH pathophysiology.

Elderly and aged asthma have different characteristics: results of a multicenter study.
Characteristics of asthma in the elderly population is not well-known. The aim of the present study was to evaluate asthma in the elderly population, to compare disease characteristics between patients diagnosed <60 (aged asthma) and ≥60 (elderly asthma) years of age. ⋯ The characteristics of asthma are different among patients aged 60 years and over which seems to be related to onset age of asthma. In our cohort, the elderly asthma patients had higher education level, and treatment adherence and asthma control was better. Patients diagnosed ≥60 years of age did not have more severe disease.

Comparison of rigid and elastic registration methods in software-based targeted prostate biopsy: a multicenter cohort study.
This study aims to compare the success rates of rigid registration (RR) and elastic registration (ER) systems in diagnosing all cancers and clinically significant prostate cancer (csPC) in software-based targeted prostate biopsies (TPBs) by performing matching analysis. ⋯ While the detection rate of csPC was similar for the RR and ER systems, the detection rate of all cancers and ciPC was significantly higher with the ER systems.
