Impact of enhanced recovery after surgery protocol compliance on patients' outcome in benign hysterectomy and establishment of a predictive nomogram model.
Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathways have been shown to improve clinical outcomes after surgery. Considering the importance of patient experience for patients with benign surgery, this study evaluated whether improved compliance with ERAS protocol modified for gynecological surgery which recommended by the ERAS Society is associated with better clinical outcomes and patient experience, and to determine the influence of compliance with each ERAS element on patients' outcome after benign hysterectomy. ⋯ Improved compliance with the ERAS protocol was associated with improved recovery and better patient experience undergoing hysterectomy. MIS, PONV prophylaxis, early mobilization, early oral intake, and early removal of urinary drainage were of concern in reducing postoperative complications.

Peri-operative diaphragm ultrasound as a new method of recognizing post-operative residual curarization.
This study sought to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of peri-operative diaphragm ultrasound in assessing post-operative residual curarization (PORC). ⋯ Peri-operative diaphragm ultrasound may be an additional method aiding the recognition of PORC, with DED having high specificity.

To investigate the effect of extubation in the operating room (OR) on mechanical ventilation-related adverse outcomes in patients who undergo liver transplantation. ⋯ Among patients who underwent liver transplantation, extubation in the OR compared with extubation in the ICU, significantly reduced the primary composite outcome of 30-day all-cause mortality, in-hospital acute kidney injury (stage 2 or 3), or in-hospital moderate to severe pulmonary complications.

The effect of selective cerebral perfusion on cerebral versus somatic tissue oxygenation during aortic coarctation repair in neonates and infants.
Suboptimal tissue perfusion and oxygenation may be the root cause of certain perioperative complications in neonates and infants having complicated aortic coarctation repair. Practical, effective, and real-time monitoring of organ perfusion and/or tissue oxygenation may provide early warning of end-organ mal-perfusion. ⋯ SctO2 and SstO2 have distinct patterns of changes before and after aortic opening during neonate/infant aortic coarctation repair. SctO2/SstO2's correlations with MAP and PaCO2 are confounded by SCP. The outcome impact of combined SctO2/SstO2 monitoring remains to be studied.

Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) as a safe and effective method has been widely used in ventricular tachycardia (VT) patients, and with which anesthesiologists frequently manage their perioperative care. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different anesthetic depths on perioperative RFCA and recurrence in patients who with intractable VT and could not tolerate an awake procedure. ⋯ Lower BIS value during VT induction in RFCA operation was associated with high risk of VT no induction, which affects postoperative outcomes. We proposed that appropriate depth of anesthesia should be maintained during the process of VT induction.
