To achieve well-being in patients in Palliative Care is required to know which are the most common symptoms, which are the drugs used for relief, which are the routes of administration of drugs that are suitable, how effective the drugs are and what incompatibilities, interactions and adverse effects occur. The aim of this article is to review the relevant issues in the management of the drugs commonly used by nursing in Palliative Care and presenting recommendations to clinical practice. ⋯ Nurses must be able to recognize the imbalance of well-being and act quickly and effectively, to get relief to some unpleasant situations for the patient as the pain symptoms, dyspnea or delirium. For the proper administration of rescue medication, the nurse should know the methods of symptomatic evaluation, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs, the time intervals to elapse between different rescues and nccocc rocnnnco t thocm

The concepts of "power" and "empowerment" are used in various disciplines, both political and social. Now are these terms frequently in the field of health. Our goal is to know its meaning as a synonym of expressions: "energy", "force", "domain", "vigour", "power", "capacity", "authority" and "control", which have been always within our practice nurse's own lexicon. ⋯ The person should be educated and informed, to be expert and active and taking action to help control and minimize the progression of your health problem chronic and its possible complications. The application of cold therapy is called thermotherapy Can distinguish two major forms: local and general. At the local level is widely used in the field of physical rehabilitation, rheumatology and various surgical specialties. However the evidence on issues relating to its potential benefits, physiological reason underlying its action, or application form is not sufficiently supported. ⋯ Interest in hypothermia begins in the third decade of the twentieth century the first scientific report on induced hypothermia was published in 1945 and described its application in patients with TBI. In the following decades appeared critical research on their application, but also great shadows of its benefits. The development of protocols and the great advances in the care provided in ICUs, have increased the capacity to prevent and control the side effects of the application of this therapy Based on the literature review, describing the main uses of therapeutic hypothermia, the major indications of these techniques and the evidence of its benefits and complications arising from their use.

Critically ill patients often suffer from malnutrition y loss of muscle weight throughout the whole time they are ill, even when they receive nutritional therapy, due to the tremendous amount of stress they undergo accompanied by a high degree of hypercatabolism. The most recent theories all coincide in the importance of the intestine as the preferred way for nutrients to enter the bodies of these patients because besides fulfilling its function to absorb and digest nutrients, the intestine plays an important role as a barrier to bacteria and their toxins. For these reasons, enteral nutrition should be the first option to consider whenever we must feed a critically ill patient by artificial means.

Whether the cause is primary or secondary, cardiac arrest requires cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques in order to avoid brain lesions. Cardiac compressions combined with the control of the air passageway and artificial respiration have made it possible to reverse clinical death status in a patient. In this article, the authors review various proven methods including heart pump, thoracic pump, asynchronous respiration, abdominal contrapulsation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation by means of coughing, MAST, ADC, pneumatic vest, etc. which are currently in use.
