An epidemiologic survey of road traffic accidents in Iran: analysis of driver-related factors.
Road traffic accident (RTA) and its related injuries contribute to a significant portion of the burden of diseases in Iran. This paper explores the association between driver-related factors and RTA in the country. ⋯ Our results will improve the traffic law enforcement measures, which will change inappropriate behavior of drivers and protect the least experienced road users.

Case ReportsComplete palmer lunate enucleation---is proximal row carpectomy or wrist arthrodesis the only choice?
Perilunate dislocations are rare injuries of the wrist and complete dislocation of the lunate is also rare. There is controversy in literature regarding the optimal management of such injuries. ⋯ Carpal row salvage surgery initially by closed reduction and wrist distractor application followed by open reduction and internal fixation with K-wires along with ligamentous repair resulted in restoration of normal wrist anatomy and good functional outcome. As many of these injuries are missed on initial presentation and outcome is poor for missed injuries, prompt diagnosis and early surgical management to restore vascularity of lunate is recommended.

Vascular endothelial growth factor promotes peripheral nerve regeneration after sciatic nerve transection in rat.
To evaluate the local effect of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) on transected sciatic nerve regeneration. ⋯ Local administration of VEGF will improve functional recovery and morphometric indices of sciatic nerve.

Local effect of celecoxib on peripheral nerve repair combined with silicone tubulization in rat.
To assess local effect of celecoxib on nerve regeneration in a rat sciatic nerve transection model. ⋯ Response to local treatment of celecoxib demonstrates that it influences and improves functional recovery of peripheral nerve regeneration.

Osteosynthesis with long volar locking plates for metaphyseal-diaphyseal fractures of the distal radius.
Metaphyseal-diaphyseal fractures of the distal radius are a major treatment dilemma and orthopaedic surgeons have to pay due consideration to restoration of anatomy of distal radius together with rotation of the radial shaft and maintenance of radial bow and interosseous space. We performed this study to evaluate the clinic-radiological outcome of metaphyseal-diaphyseal fractures of the distal radius treated with long volar locking plates. ⋯ Volar locking plate fixation for metaphyseal-diaphyseal fractures of distal radius is associated with excellent to good functional outcome, early rehabilitation and minimal complications.
