Immuno-biological diagnosis of allergies lo medicines can be carried out using a Flow Cytometer and by activating cells such as basophils and lymphocytes with membrane markers. A description is given of two cases of patients allergic to a myorelaxant: Rocuronium, who showed a correlation between the clinical history, skin tests and a positive basophil activation test, when compared to six negative controls.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Double-blind comparative study of terfenadine and cetirizine in chronic idiopathic urticaria].
Our randomised study in parallel groups, double-blind double placebo, has compared the efficacy, onset of action and safety of terfenadine and cetirizine in chronic idiopathic urticaria. Over a fourteen day period, patients of the first group received a tablet containing 120 mg of terfenadine, those of the second group a tablet containing 10 mg of cetirizine. Symptoms were assessed every two hour period for the ten first hours on the first day (D1), and before and at the end of the study by the investigators. 193 patients were included by 48 dermatologists between May 1989 and July 1990. ⋯ Adverse events (fatigue and drowsiness) were significantly reported less frequently (p < 0.05) in patients on terfenadine (19%) than on cetirizine (33%). This study confirms the efficacy of terfenadine compared with cetirizine in the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria. Adverse events were less significant for terfenadine (n = 18) than for cetirizine (n = 29) (p < 0.05).

Comparative Study[Correlation between the atmospheric level of antigen Amb-al (AgE) and the number of Ambrosia artemisiaefolia pollen grains in Lyon and neighboring regions].
Accurate quantitation of the atmospheric levels of pollens and other allergenic particulate is laborious and may not always correlate with the concentration of allergen within the particulate. This study examined the atmospheric contamination by short ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiae folia) over 7 weekly periods during ragweed pollination in 6 localities of France centered around Lyon. The correlation between data obtained from the conventional microscopic numeration of pollen grain and and the quantitation of the allergen Amb-al level by radioimmunoassay was investigated. For the total of 41 paired analyses of the actual numbers of ragweed pollen grains and computed numbers of pollen grains from the Amb-al levels there was an excellent overall correlation (r = 0.90, p 0.001) thus the radioimmunoassay of Amb-al represent a simple and relevant alternative to microscopic numeration of pollen grains.
