Survival Effects of Cytoreductive Surgery for Refractory Patients after Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Advanced Epithelial Ovarian Cancer.
Salvage second-line chemotherapy is usually recommended for patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (AEOC) who develop progressive disease (PD) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). Herein, we investigated the role of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) for such patients. ⋯ CRS may result in a survival benefit even in patients with AEOC who develop PD after NAC.

Worse Renal Presentation and Prognosis in Initial-Onset Lupus Nephritis than Early-Onset Lupus Nephritis.
To compare the clinical characteristics and renal outcomes between patients who initially had lupus nephritis (LN) at the onset of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (initial-onset LN) and those who developed LN within 5 years after SLE onset (early-onset LN). ⋯ Patients with LN at SLE onset may have more severe renal presentations and experience worse renal outcomes than those who develop LN within 5 years.

Observational StudyClinical and Hospital Factors Affecting Treatment with Primary Prevention Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators in Ischemic Cardiomyopathy Patients.
Implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) are the standard of care for primary prevention (PP) in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM). However, PP ICD implantation is underused in Asian countries. This study investigated ICD implantation rates and factors associated with appropriate PP ICD implants for ICM. ⋯ PP ICD implantation for ICM patients is underused in Korea. Hospital factors were important for improving PP ICD implantation rate, suggesting that new screening and referral systems for ICM patients would improve the PP ICD implantation rate (Clinical trial registration No. NCT03590925).

Incidental Lung Cancer of Explanted Lungs from Lung Transplant Recipients: Incidence, Characteristics, and 5-Year Survival.
Recent history of malignancy without 5-year disease-free interval is an absolute contraindication for lung transplantation (LTx). However, in rare cases, lung cancer may be incidentally diagnosed in the explanted lung of recipients. We evaluated the prevalence, 5-year survival, and prognosis of incidental lung cancer after LTx. ⋯ Multidisciplinary preoperative screening and serial imaging studies within short intervals are required to differentiate lung malignancy from fibrotic foci. Furthermore, active pathologic examination of suspicious lung lesions is required in patients at high risk for lung cancer.

Case ReportsThe Effect of Combined Growth Hormone and a Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Agonist Therapy on Height in Korean 3-M Syndrome Siblings.
3-M syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive growth disorder characterized by severe growth retardation, low birth weight, characteristic facial features, and skeletal anomalies, for which three causative genes (CUL7, OBSL1, and CCDC8) have been identified. We herein report two Korean siblings with 3-M syndrome caused by two novel OBSL1 mutations, and describe the effect of a combined treatment with growth hormone (GH) and a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist. A 7-year-old girl with short stature (-3.37 standard deviation score, SDS) and breast budding presented with subtle dysmorphic features, including macrocephaly, frontal bossing, a triangular face, prominent philtrum, full lips, a short neck, and fifth-finger clinodactyly. ⋯ A height gain was noted in both siblings even after short-term treatment. To fully elucidate the effects of the combined therapy, a larger cohort should be analyzed following a longer treatment period. However, such an analysis would be challenging due to the rarity of this disease.
