Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of Interleukin-17A on the Early Stages of Arterial Thrombosis in Mice.
Interleukin (IL)-17A has been suggested to play a role in the growth and organization of thrombi. We examined whether IL-17A plays a role in the early stages of thrombosis and whether there are sex differences in the effects of IL-17A. ⋯ IL-17A plays a role in the initial st ages of arterial thrombosis in mice. Coagulation factors and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 may be associated with IL-17A-mediated thrombosis.

What Affects Segmental Lordosis of the Surgical Site after Minimally Invasive Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion?
This study was undertaken to identify factors that affect segmental lordosis (SL) after minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS-TLIF) by comparing patients whose postoperative SL increased with those whose decreased. ⋯ Changes in SL after MIS-TLIF appear to be associated with preoperative SL and PL, index level, and Yc. An index level at L4/5 instead of L3/4, smaller preoperative SL or PL, and an anterior position of the cage are likely to result in increased SL after MIS-TLIF.

Machine Learning Model for Classifying the Results of Fetal Cardiotocography Conducted in High-Risk Pregnancies.
Fetal well-being is usually assessed via fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring during the antepartum period. However, the interpretation of FHR is a complex and subjective process with low reliability. This study developed a machine learning model that can classify fetal cardiotocography results as normal or abnormal. ⋯ The machine learning model developed in this study showed precision in classifying FHR signals. This suggests that the model can be applied to medical devices as a screening tool for monitoring fetal status.

Comparison of Clinical Outcomes for Glycopeptides and Beta-Lactams in Methicillin-Susceptible Staphylococcus Aureus Bloodstream Infections.
This study aimed to provide compelling evidence of anti-staphylococcal beta-lactam use for methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infection (MSSA BSI). ⋯ Definitive therapy with beta-lactams in patients with MSSA BSI was associated with lower 28-day mortality compared to definitive therapy with glycopeptides.

Initial Abdominal CT and Laboratory Findings Prior to Diagnosis of Crohn's Disease in Children.
To identify initial abdominal computed tomography (CT) and laboratory findings prior to a diagnosis of Crohn's disease (CD) in children. ⋯ Multisegmental bowel involvement on CT and decreased albumin levels can help differentiate CD from infectious enterocolitis in children prior to a definite diagnosis of CD.
