Randomized Controlled TrialImpact of light salt substitution for regular salt on blood pressure of hypertensive patients.
Studies have shown sodium restriction to have a beneficial effect on blood pressure (BP) of hypertensive patients. ⋯ The light salt substitution for regular salt significantly reduced BP of hypertensive patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialDigital stethoscope as an innovative tool on the teaching of auscultatory skills.
Physical cardiovascular examination, particularly cardiac auscultation, is one of the most difficult clinical skills for students during their medical training. Studies suggest that the use of technologies such as digital stethoscope increase the accuracy of clinical examination, however, its impact on the teaching of cardiac auscultation for undergraduate students of medicine is not known. The objective is to demonstrate the usefulness of the digital stethoscope compared to traditional methods as a tool in the teaching of auscultatory skills. nterventional, longitudinal, controlled, unicenter and randomized study. ⋯ It is observed that, at the end of the course, there was a significantly greater improvement in the group that used the digital stethoscope (51.9%) compared to the group using the conventional stethoscope (29.5%). Short-term interventions for cardiac semiology teaching are able to contribute significantly to improving proficiency in the identification of heart sounds. The use of digital stethoscope proved to be a positive factor in teaching these skills.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyHydration with sodium bicarbonate does not prevent contrast nephropathy: a multicenter clinical trial.
Radiographic contrast media exposition can cause acute renal function impairment. There is limited and conflicting evidence that hydration with sodium bicarbonate prevents contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) in patients undergoing cardiac catheterization. ⋯ Hydration with sodium bicarbonate was not superior to saline to prevent contrast media induced nephropathy in patients at risk undergoing cardiac catheterization.

Randomized Controlled TrialDiltiazem as an alternative to beta-blocker in coronary artery computed tomography angiography.
Reducing heart rate (HR) in CT angiography of the coronary arteries (CTACor) is critical to image quality. The effectiveness of calcium channel blockers as alternatives for patients with contraindications to beta-blockers has not been established. ⋯ We conclude that diltiazem is an effective and safe alternative to beta-blockers in the reduction of HR when performing computed tomography angiography of coronary arteries.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyTrimetazidine on ischemic injury and reperfusion in coronary artery bypass grafting.
The ischemia and reperfusion ischemia is a common physiopathological mechanisms, which has difficult control during Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) with cardiopulmonary bypass, the critical moment of which happening by the end of surgery, when there is declamping of aorta and release of hyperoxic radicals causing the injury. ⋯ Trimetazidine was effective in reducing ischemic injury and reperfusion, had no effect on left ventricular function, and no side effects were observed.
