A new type of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) causes a respiratory distress syndrome that has been called COVID-19 and has generated an unprecedented pandemic. Serious complications include pneumonia, and mortality ranges from 2 to 5%. Until March 26, the World Health Organization reports 462 684 confirmed cases and 20 834 deaths worldwide. Dissemination occurs from aerosols or respiratory droplets. Different scientific societies have published clinical practice guidelines regarding ophthalmic care in the COVID-19 pandemic, but the information is presented inconsistently, which makes decision-making difficult. ⋯ The clinical practice guidelines that we reviewed all recommend rescheduling all non-urgent consultations and surgeries, reinforcing contact precautions, the use of personal protection elements, and the disinfection of surfaces and instruments. The guidelines should be improved by incorporating systematic searches for evidence, using GRADE for recommendations, and Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE II) for reporting.

Are antibiotics a safe and effective treatment for acute uncomplicated appendicitis?- First update.
This Living FRISBEE (Living FRIendly Summary of the Body of Evidence using Epistemonikos) is an update of the summary published in January 2016. ⋯ We identified 23 systematic reviews including 28 primary studies, of which eight were randomized trials. We concluded the exclusive use of antibiotics for the treatment of uncomplicated acute appendicitis could be less effective than appendectomy, but it might be associated with a lower rate of complications.

Is flumazenil an alternative for the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy?
Flumazenil is an antagonist of the GABA/benzodiazepines receptor complex that might play a role in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy. However, its efficacy and safety are a matter of debate. ⋯ We identified two systematic reviews including fourteen randomized trials. We concluded flumazenil does not reduce mortality in patients with hepatic encephalopathy and it is not clear whether it leads to any clinical improvement because the certainty of the evidence is very low.

Healthcare workers have been widely recognized as the mainstay of healthcare systems. Mostly incorporated as human resources into healthcare planning, their expression in the public policies of Chile and Latin America has undergone changes in compliance with the socio-economic and economic development of the countries in the region as well as changes in their healthcare systems. This article offers a historical review of healthcare human resources planning in Chile from a government-level standpoint; thus, enabling the characterization of a path that has added tools from the economic sciences to the healthcare workers own diagnosis, promoting policy actions to improve planning and management at national level, although the results have been inconsistent. Today, the great interest by national and international entities in healthcare human resources constitutes a growing concern about current problems, asymmetries, and expected results-- all of which increase the complexity of healthcare staffing and human resources planning.
