Comparison of the Efficacy of Propranolol Versus Valsartan in the Prevention of Migraine: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Migraine is a prevalent episodic headache that affects approximately 14%-15% of the global population. Since valsartan is an antihypertensive drug, it is hypothesized that taking valsartan can prevent migraine attacks in patients with the condition. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of propranolol versus valsartan in preventing migraine attacks. ⋯ According to the results of the present study, valsartan may be at least as effective as propranolol and perhaps more effective on some measures.

Effect of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation on Patients with Total Knee Replacement: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) on pain, functionality, quality of life, and analgesic consumption in patients undergoing TKR. ⋯ Nurses can provide effective postoperative pain control in patients undergoing TKR, increase functionality, accelerate the healing process, and improve their quality of life by using TENS, a non-pharmacological treatment method, in the perioperative period.

The Power of Reiki: Its Effects on Pain and Biochemical Parameters in Patients Undergoing Bone Marrow Transplantation: A Randomized Prospective Controlled Study.
This study aimed to determine the effects of Reiki on pain and biochemical parameters in patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation. ⋯ Reiki is effective for pain control and enhancing the immune system response.

Effects of Monochromatic Infrared Light on Painful Diabetic Polyneuropathy: Randomized Controlled Trial.
To evaluate the effect of 890 nm Monochromatic Infrared Light (MIR) associated with a physical therapy protocol on pain in individuals with diabetic Distal Symmetric Polyneuropathy. ⋯ 890 nm MIR improves Painful Diabetic Polyneuropathy patient care due to relief of neuropathic pain.

Effect of Topical Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) Seed Oil on Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Double-Blind Controlled Trial.
Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common and debilitating diseases, especially in the elderly. Hemp seed oil is a plant product that has been used as a food or drug since ancient times because of its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. ⋯ Hemp seed oil led to greater improvements in VAS pain score and WOMAC parameters, but not knee flexion range, compared to placebo. There were no differences in measured outcomes comparing hemp seed oil and diclofenac gel.
