Background and Objectives: The population is aging and fragility fractures are a research topic of steadily growing importance. Therefore, a systematic bibliometric review was performed to identify the 50 most cited articles in the field of fragility fractures analyzing their qualities and characteristics. Materials and Methods: From the Core Collection database in the Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge, the most influential original articles with reference to fragility fractures were identified in February 2021 using a multistep approach. ⋯ In total, 38% of the articles were therapeutic studies level III followed by prognostic studies level I. Only two therapeutic studies with level I could be identified. Conclusions: This bibliometric review shows the growing interest in fragility fractures and raises awareness that more high quality and interdisciplinary studies are needed.

In recent years, there has been increasing study of ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL), leading to many articles on this topic. We aimed to identify trends in OPLL-related research and to analyze the most highly cited scientific articles on OPLL. ⋯ The scientific literature on OPLL has rapidly expanded in recent years. This study represents the first bibliometric analysis of scientific articles on OPLL and can serve as a useful guide to clinicians and researchers in the field.

Worldwide research tendency and hotspots on hip fracture: a 20-year bibliometric analysis.
We analyzed the overall knowledge structure, development trends, and research hotspots of 7684 publications related to hip fracture through the bibliometric method. Our results indicate this area has received more and more attention from researchers. Prevention of complications will be the focus of future studies.

Thousands of papers on acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) have been published in the last decade. This study aimed to evaluate the research hotspots and future trends in ARDS research using bibliometric analysis. ⋯ In the decade from 2010 to 2019, the United States was a global leader in ARDS research, and hotspots included epidemiology, mechanisms, monitoring parameters, and therapy, especially mechanical ventilation. Our results suggest that the mechanisms of ARDS and novel life-support therapies will remain research hotspots in the future. International collaboration is also expected to widen and deepen in the field of ARDS research.
