In vitro antibacterial and cytogenotoxicological properties of the aqueous extract of Cymbopogoncitratus Stapf (DC) leaf.
Microbial infection of the genital tract or semen is one of the leading causes of male infertility. Consequently, there is a need to seek alternative products from natural sources. ⋯ This study indicated, C. citratus could be a potential source for antibacterial compounds for the possible treatment of male reproductive related infections.

Challenges faced by student accoucheurs during clinical placement at the free state maternal health care institutions.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that student accoucheurs studying at the Free State School of Nursing in South Africa are faced with resistance, discrimination, rejection and unacceptability by pregnant women during their clinical placement at the Free State maternal health care institutions. ⋯ The study is a contribution to the emerging education and training of student accoucheurs body of knowledge in the Free State Province and to the global existing body of knowledge regarding the phenomena.

Association between parental involvement and academic achievement of deaf children at Mulago school for the deaf, Kampala, Uganda.
Deaf children face many challenges in dealing with educational opportunities and ensuring attainment of academic skills. A parent's involvement in the child's education has the potential to enhance academic performance. We sought to study the association between parental involvement and academic achievement among deaf children in Uganda. ⋯ Parental involvement was not associated with academic achievement among deaf children in Kampala. Other factors associated with academic achievement need to be identified to enhance deaf children's performance at school.

Staff perceptions of patient safety culture in general surgery departments in Turkey.
The first step towards establishing and improving patient safety culture in hospitals is measuring patient safety culture perceptions of staff. Few studies have examined the perception of patient safety culture in general surgery departments. ⋯ Frequency of events reported and non-punitive responses to errors should be improved, and participants' characteristics should be considered at improvement efforts in general surgery departments. The dimesions with low means suggest opportunities for improvement.

Women exposed to intimate partner violence: a Foucauldian discourse analysis of South African emergency nurses' perceptions.
Emergency nurses' understanding and interpretation of intimate partner violence influence the care they provide to women exposed to intimate partner violence. ⋯ Emergency nurses are in a position to intervene in intimate partner violence through portraying a non-judgmental approach that lay the foundation for disclosure, supporting women to change their intimate partner violence (IPV) situations, documentation, referral and safety planning.
