Children and adolescents suffering from refractory leukaemia, relapse after stem cell transplantation, solid metastatic tumour or refractory to conventional treatments still condition a dismal prognosis. The critical role of the immune system in the immunosurveillance of cancer is becoming relevant with the development of new treatments such as the checkpoint inhibitor drugs and genetic modified T lymphocytes, tisagenlecleucel or axicabtagene ciloleucel. ⋯ The rapid and potent cytotoxic activity of NK cells respecting healthy cells and the possibility of expansion, manipulating them and combining them with other treatments, make these cells a powerful therapeutic tool to be developed, with a very high safety profile. Furthermore, new strategies are being developed to increase the therapeutic benefit of NK cells such as genetic manipulation for the expression of chimeric antigen receptors.

Pharmacological venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in radical prostatectomy.
Pulmonary thromboembolism is one of the most common causes of non-surgical death in patients following urological abdominopelvic surgery. Since the beginning of prophylaxis for venous thromboembolic disease, episodes of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary thromboembolism have decreased. Our objective is to analyse the prognosis factors of thromboembolic disease, the clinical variability in the use of pharmacological prophylaxis and the results of its application. ⋯ In this study on patients undergoing radical prostatectomy, there was no difference in haemorrhagic complications derived from the use of pharmacological prophylaxis for venous thromboembolic disease. Pharmacological prophylaxis reduces the risk of presenting a thromboembolic event in patients undergoing radical prostatectomy, although this risk is not associated with the approach technique.

To analyse articles retracted due to irregularities by authors helps to determine the state of scientific integrity of a discipline or country. The Retraction Watch (RW) database is the largest worldwide database on retracted articles. The objective was to determine the reasons for and features of retracted biomedical articles by Spanish authors. ⋯ The number of retracted biomedicine articles by Spanish authors is low. Research misconduct was a frequent reason, with a similar percentage of articles retracted due to honest errors.
