The development of the Dutch version of the Fremantle Back Awareness Questionnaire.
Disturbed body perception may play a role in the aetiology of chronic low back pain (LBP). The Fremantle Back Awareness Questionnaire (FreBAQ) is currently the only self-report questionnaire to assess back-specific body perception in individuals with LBP. ⋯ The Dutch version of the FreBAQ can be considered as unidimensional and showed adequate internal consistency, sufficient test-retest reliability and adequate discriminant and construct validity in individuals with and without LBP. It can improve our understanding on back-specific perception in the Dutch-speaking population with LBP.

Review Meta AnalysisManual therapy, exercise therapy or combined treatment in the management of adult neck pain - A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Neck pain is a common and often disabling musculoskeletal condition. Two therapies frequently prescribed for its management are manual therapy (MT) and exercise therapy (ET), and combining these treatment approaches are common. ⋯ Combined treatment consisting of MT and ET does not seem to be more effective in reducing neck pain intensity at rest, neck disability or improving quality of life in adult patients with grade I-II neck pain, than ET alone.

Comparative StudyAge-related differences in the response of the L5-S1 intervertebral disc to spinal traction.
Lumbar traction is a common treatment for low back pain; however its mechanisms of action are poorly understood. It has been hypothesized that a key effect of lumbar traction is its capacity to influence fluid movement within the intervertebral disc (IVD). ⋯ 4.

Comparative StudyRepositioning error, pressure pain threshold, catastrophizing and anxiety in adolescents with chronic idiopathic neck pain.
Impaired proprioception, increased pain sensitivity, higher levels of anxiety and catastrophizing are present in adults with chronic idiopathic neck pain. Despite the high prevalence of neck pain, studies in adolescents are scarce. ⋯ This study suggests that functional changes and maladaptive cognitive processes are present in adolescents with neck pain aged 16-18 years old. These findings need to be replicated in future studies.

Comparative StudyThe diagnostic accuracy and test-retest reliability of the Dutch PainDETECT and the DN4 screening tools for neuropathic pain in patients with suspected cervical or lumbar radiculopathy.
It is important to identify neuropathic pain early to guide treatment decisions and prevent chronicity. There is lack of evidence whether the Dutch painDETECT questionnaire and Douleure Neuropathique en 4 questions (DN4) can adequately assess neuropathic pain. ⋯ Diagnosis, Level 1B.
