Factors associated with low skeletal muscle index among patients with Crohn's disease.
Disease-related skeletal muscle loss is highly prevalent among patients with Crohn's disease. Low skeletal muscle mass lead to disability and interventions to prevent skeletal mass loss as an effective strategy to prevent disability. The aim of this article was to identify the factor associated with skeletal muscle loss of Crohn's disease and seek for management target for the prevention of sarcopenia-related disability. ⋯ The gender, age, and duration of disease were uncontrollable factors associated with muscle loss of Crohn's disease. The treatment target of mucosal healing and improved nutritional status may be beneficial for maintaining muscle mass among Crohn's disease patients.

Aflibercept suppresses ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome: an experimental study in rats.
In this study, we aimed to determine the impact of the antiangiogenic medications, namely, aflibercept and cabergoline in the prevention and treatment of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome in a rat model. ⋯ Aflibercept, an antiangiogenic medication, decreased ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome by lowering the vascular permeability and vascular endothelial growth factor expression.

Evaluation of the association between silent ischemic lesions and stent design in carotid stenting applications.
Minor ischemic events and silent ischemic lesions are more common in carotid stenting than in endarterectomy. These silent ischemic lesions are also associated with stroke risk and cognitive impairment, so it is important to understand the factors that increase the risk and develop strategies to reduce the risk. We aimed to evaluate the association between carotid stent design and silent ischemic lesion development. ⋯ The rate of new ischemic lesion development was found to be significantly higher in carotid stent procedures performed with an open-cell Protégé stent than in those performed with a closed-cell Wallstent stent.

Evaluation of the relationship between toxicity of cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitors and body surface area.
This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the toxicity of cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitors and body mass index and body surface area. ⋯ No statistically significant difference was found between body mass index groups and side effects. Grade 3 neutropenia was more common in patients on palbociclib with a body surface area≤1.77. In our study, it was revealed that less hematological side effects can be encountered when body surface area is taken into account.

Inflammatory prognostic index predicts new-onset atrial fibrillation and mortality after on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting.
This study aimed to analyze its predictive role in incipient postoperative atrial fibrillation by constructing an inflammatory prognostic index based on hematological and biochemical parameters in patients undergoing elective isolated coronary artery surgery accompanied by cardiopulmonary bypass. ⋯ Inflammatory prognostic index can be a noninvasive, easily available marker for predicting new-onset atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass surgery.
